  1. Yup I'm in Plainview hospital now. I spoke to someone who's in the program today and she told me that we'll all be in the same class. The sections are broken up for clinicals.
  2. Is everyone in section A1, A2, A3, and A4 in the same class?
  3. I'm in section A4 now.
  4. Soooo, I'm in section A4 now. Which one are you in? I'm thinking we could all be in a study group now. You, me, and the other girl that asked. Let me know. I know you said u work evening and I have to go to work after class as well so maybe we can set something up for weekends.
  5. That sounds awesome! I don't think I'd be able to handle more than one nursing class at a time. Have you registered for Nur 101 yet? I had to wait for them to change my major since I was applying for a second degree. Did u register online or did u go in person?
  6. How'd the meeting go?
  7. Yes I'll be there for the orientation. Did you get your uniforms yet? I went to the store to order them and they gave them to me right there. I guess they had extras. FYI if u haven't ordered them yet, they run big.
  8. Ok I just called them and they said the letter didn't go out to everyone, just those that met a certain "criteria", whatever that means. So I guess I'll see if I get one or not.
  9. When is the meeting? I'd like to go as well. Is it a personal invitation? Or is it for everyone in the nursing program?
  10. I haven't received anything yet, but that sounds awesome.
  11. I just have to take microbiology, which I plan to take next summer. So I just have to focus on nursing each semester. I'm in B1 which B section are you in?
  12. I'm super nervous!! All i hear about is how rigorous the classes are!! Are you ordering your uniforms before orientation on 8/29? I'm a little confused because they say we need to order them by 8/16 but it also states that a uniform rep will be there on orientation day. Not sure what I should do.
  13. Lol, that's funny. I was eyeing your paper because I wanted section A. Didn't really want to drive to Plainview but the hours where better in section A. I'm in section B, I go to Winthrop for 4 weeks then Nassau County Medical center.
  14. Curious to know how your interview went.
  15. Really? Lol. I had a black shirt on and a ponytail. Are you in section A or B?
  16. I honestly don't remember how long the one on one interview was, but it wasn't long. Maybe 5,10 min the most.
  17. Yes, I started at 9 and was done by 10. In the interview they just go over what you wrote in your paragraph answering the question. They go over the definitions you defined and they go over the classes you've taken and what you need to take. They make sure you understand all the requirements of the program and clinicals. Then she writes down on a paper a summary of what you discussed and you sign off agreeing to it and that's it! The prof I interviewed with didn't ask me anything about what I wrote down but some people were asked to elaborate on what they wrote. Others where asked "why do you want to be a nurse". The beginning lecture by the chairman of the program was the longest part. Your in a room with a bunch of people and then after you go thru all the paper work then they call you one by one to meet with the prof for the interview process. Honestly don't stress it! The stress will come in Sept!! I think we're all in the same orientation on 8/29 so hopefully we'll meet there :)
  18. It was actually fairly quick. They give you a packet with all your info, physical paper, a math test your suppose to bring back the first day of school, and your schedule (it goes by section) they also give you a slip to take to registrar to register for your nursing class. After the chairman speaks to you they have you define some words. I had initiative, responsible and they asked us to write a brief paragraph about how we handle stressful situations. Then you go meet with one of the prof who reads your paragraph, go over the classes you've taken and what you need to take (advisement) and that's basically it. There's also someone there signing you up for CPR classes if you want to take it at NCC it's June,3,4,5 at 9am for $60.
  19. Just Had my interview today. It wasn't too bad It was nervous as well, it lasted about an hour. Then they give you another date to come back for orientation that is about four hours long I have to go back on August 29 from 7 AM to 12 PM.
  20. I got a C+ in A&P 1 and I just got in for Fall '13. They loom at your Teas scores and your GPA on the following classes Psychology, Statistics, Eng 101, and A&P 1. They don't look at your overall GPA for all your classes, just those 4 classes. So my GPA for those 4 classes was a 3.5 it was higher than my overall GPA. I did have all my other pre reqs tho, so not sure if that played a role. You just apply, you never know.
  21. Hey, if you received a letter pending an interview then your pretty much in the program. There are other threads about the interview process. It's more of an orientation and registration more than an interview. I guess they have to say "tentative" because if you don't go to the interview your not officially accepted. I know two people in the program (started in jan '13) and they filled me in on what is to be expected. So breath easy, your in the nursing program. I have my interview 5/20 @ 9am and I'm super excited!! Good luck to us all!
  22. Thanks! Good Luck to you too! I think it's a good idea to get the ADN save some money, focus and then go for the BSN. I was looking in to Molloy but it was supper expensive too. I was about to apply when I received Nassau's letter. Keep in touch let me know how everything goes after orientation. I'll let you know how mine went since mine is on 5/20 :)
