  1. I have a quick question that I'm asking only because the dr.'s office is closed. Im a nursing student on Prednisone (short term), wondering if I should mention this to my instructor regarding wether I should avoid isolation pts for the 2 weeks I'll be taking it? I know this decreases WBC count and decreases the immune response so I assume it could make me more likely to pick something up and maybe mask the infection if I got one, but I don't know for sure. With finals on the horizon I don't want to get even more sick! Thanks for any advice.
  2. Thank you everyone for your helpful replies! The problem is that I am not sure what area of nursing I want to go into after I graduate since I haven't had too many clinical experiences yet. Maybe you could tell me what techs/NAs do on the type of unit you work on so I could get an idea of how the job may differ depending on the unit? Thanks again!
  3. Hi, I am a sophmore BSN nursing student who will be partcipating in a nurse externship program this summer. I have to decide shortly which unit I want to work on. This will be my first experience working in the hospital environment. I was wondering if some of you more experienced nurses could gie me some input on what would be a good floor for someone like myself for learning and also becoming comfortable with the enivronment. The choices are narrowed down to: PACU, Ob-Gyn, Psych, ICU, general surgery or general medicine (no med-surg, they are seperate). Thanks in advance for the advice!!
