  1. i am an experienced rn looking for a way to make a few extra bucks. i am considering home health. i was told to do prn or contract to max my hourly wage. i have never done home health before, is it true that i could work while my kids are at school? are you required to see a certain amount of patients a day? is there someone out there that can give me the ins and outs? i work for sps here in austin- the agency for seton. i like controlling my schedule and i am used to getting about $300 for an 8 hour shift. any thoughts?
  2. does anyone know anything about the austin heart hospital? i moved to austin from san antonio and heard that the heart hospital in san antonio pays very well. any thoughts? thanks
  3. I live in the Austin area. I am currently working prn for Seton through Premiere Staffing. I am looking for something to fill in the gaps when I get cancelled. I work nights now. I have heard that Home Health is cool because you can structure your day around your visits and finish in time to pick kids up from school. I have also considered Hospice nursing. Is there anyone out there that can expand on the flexibility of either of these nursing areas, and pay as well. I currently make $36.10 and hour plus diffs at Premiere but I get cancelled more than I'd like. Thanks
  4. I work for both systems with their staffing agencies. I don't have too much bad to say about either of them, however you should follow what you love. It is much easier to do what you want the first time. Learn from my mistake, I switched to Med/Surg to do agency to get paid more and have more flexibility. It's ok, but my passion is oncology. I don't hate going to work but it's not the same as it was when I was working on an all oncology floor.
