  1. Im used to working in a unit that is strictly LDR around 400 deliveries a month, however I would like to have less. A level 2 NICU, in house Anes. I just want to be able to bond with my patients, and not rush them through labor b.c there are 10 more admits waiting in triage. What do you think?
  2. It happened to me. On a Friday night at 5pm. Of course. I was working in the microbiology lab before I had become a nurse. I didnt find out ANY results until Monday. I was sick all weekend over it. I had been doing an acid fast test for TB. Umm...yeah. Pretty upset. But everything came back fine. That was about 5 years ago now. Don't worry, it happens to all of us. And for everyone that is trying to give you lessons on how to dispose of needles and not recap..blah blah...we are all still human. Crap happens, even when you do everything by the rules. Take care! :)
  3. So I just moved to the Ft. Lauderdale area as an experienced Labor and Delivery nurse. Im in my early 30's, and I am starting completely over. I miss my old unit very much, and have started working in a new unit at one of the south florida hospitals. Im not feeling like I fit in because everything is done so differently. They are so busy that any chance of bonding with the patient is not likely. I would like to stay working nights and would like to use the QS system to chart. Would anyone be able to recommend a labor unit they work at? Reasons why its a great place to work? How is the charting? How many deliveries a month? IN house anesthesia? Nicu? Im not giving up on the unit Im in yet, but Im just trying to see if there is anything out there that would fit me better. Thanks so much. -oli
