  1. Give me a break. I just graduated last month at 41. The majority of the class was atleast in their 30's and one person was in his late 50'(a doctor). You are plenty young and will do fine. Just make sure you listen, follow the rules and most of all have fun. It's a great opportunity to make a lot of good friends. Enjoy
  2. JMA1989, Sorry about your troubles, it can be a very frustrating process. Do you have past follow up documentation showing this was a childhood issue? Many things they will dismiss depending on the age.But you'll definitely need documentation showing no you have been asymptomatic. Also, your recruiter will need to get permission to send you to MEPS with the goal of a request for waiver. Hope that helps. I went down the waiver road because of back surgery and after 22 years they let me in.Best of Luck
  3. i would be happy to put you in touch. i am in california, but i know he could get you connected with who you need to talk with or give you some accurate information. send me an email with name and brief description of problem. i will forward it to him and hopefully get this moving. he worked really hard for me and knows what he's doing. please do not post personal email addresses in the public message boards, per our tos. other members can email you from your profile. thanks, bbfrn- moderator
  4. I don't know where to get a list of conditions but they will waiver untreated elevated cholesterol. It is checked in the lipid panel for the over 40 physical, but I don't think its even tested in the regular physical.
  5. I'm surprised that they rejected you for that. Has your recruiter submitted a request for waiver? I have experience with the waiver issue. I had back surgery in 1983 and it took 22 years, a nursing degree and a lot of rejections, but I finally was granted a waiver. My back surgery seems like a greater risk of problem than your kidney stone. Especially since you passed it, no surgery. Make sure your recruiter has submitted a request to physical. That will get you to the MEPPS floor. Then when you physical you may get the medical disqualification. Once you get that it can be sent to the waiver board in Kentucky. Don't just let the recruiter stop you, there are a lot of recruiters that don't know what they're doing. I recently received my commission and I would be happy to give you the name of my recruiter. Very competent. If I can help in any way let me know. 1LTJSMITH
  6. I out source it to a biller. Some Insurance pays well, while others deny the claim even when approved for an assist.Do you work as an assistant?
  7. I am an independent RNFA in Ca. and have billed on my own for 6 or 7 years. Anyone out there found any ways to improve collection and reduce denials from insurance companies?
  8. I encountered the same problem. I graduated with my ADN in California from a school that was state accredited but not NLN or CCNE. The Army absolutely would not budge. I went back to school and got my BSN from a CCNE/NLN school. It was a pain but a good motivator. Sorry for the bad news.
  9. A couple of questions about the Reserve FTX. Is the FTX 7 days a week or are the week ends off? I heard no showers and the bathrooms are bad. Just wondering how bad.PFT every day?
  10. Thanks just_cause. That's helpful.
  11. Jarnaes,do you know if voluntary deployments come in different length of time? Just curious if there are periods up to 6 mos.I would like to balance service and family. My kids are on the young side.
  12. Thanks Just_cause, that's a great breakdown. The 12-15 just seems like a long time for the family to deal with.I feel bad subjecting rthem to that.
  13. Thanks Jarnaes.I would rather. Do FST but the 12-15 mos is not cool.If you are a CSH OR nurse, do they deploy you in the states or will you go overseas? I would like to go out of the country,it's just 12+ mos.If you volunteer can you go for a shorter length? Are you in a unit in California?
  14. Thanks for the reply. I am an OR Nurse. I was offered a commission and trying to decide what job to take. I would prefer FST but hate to leave the kids for a year +. Trying to gather info.
