  1. Thanks! I think two weeks later -- interviewed on a Friday and found out 2 or 3 fridays later. My life has taken a bit of a different turn and I'll be starting a program sooner (this summer) @ a different school... but I still think Rush is amazing and would be honored to pursue my master's degree there someday. You'll do great :)
  2. Very standard, I think if you scan up on this thread someone else posted things they are likely to ask: why nursing? why now? strengths/weaknesses? do you have concerns about moving to such a big city (I'm a country bumpkin), etc. They (2 interviewers) record the interview to play back to the admissions committee. I would do research about aspects of the program/scholarships so they know you are invested in the program. Oh and if you are from a different time zone than Chicago... don't forget they call you on *their time zone*. I got nervous until I remembered they were an hour *behind* my time! You'll do great!
  3. Gocubsgo, Don't worry! I don't have much work/volunteer experience either and I was accepted into the winter class. The interview was very relaxed compared to a few others I suffered through! As long as you are articulate about your strengths, weaknesses and passions they'll value your personal-insight. In fact, I cited that (my lack of experience) as a personal weakness and strength... so maybe I beat them to the punch? Best of luck!
  4. I'm a winter 09/10 applicant and she just called me to schedule an interview. They didn't seem very accommodating to people who couldn't make it on the specific day she was scheduling for. I've resigned to the fact that I'm going to do a phone interview instead because I just can't schedule a flight/take off from work and school on such short notice... Anyway, has anyone interviewed there? I've never done a phone interview so I'm wondering how different it may be from in-person interviews. Any info would be great! Best of luck to you other Rush applicants :)
  5. jersey nursing girl (and others), thank you for all of these wonderful suggestions! i was able bend the rules and sign up somewhat illegally for microbio at a community college in my area without the pre-req of anat & phys ii since i will be taking it simultaneously with micro. however, it is great to know i have backup plans!! best of luck. your patients are lucky to have such compassionate and helpful people at their side. gratefully, mmmkay
  6. Thank you all for the suggestions today. Sounds like I have a whole new slew of numbers to call tomorrow and hunt down some answers! Will let you know what I figure out :) Gratefully, Mmmkay
  7. Thank you Atomicwoman! I will give them a call tomorrow. Sometimes I think the most challenging part about getting ready for nursing school is being organized, tenacious and having back-up plans as far as the preparation goes. Best wishes. Gratefully, Mmmkay
  8. Thank you! I will look into both suggestions!! After today, I'm hopeful that it will work itself out somehow... (most likely with a lot of pushing and prodding on my part!) warm wishes, Mmmkay
  9. Yeah... I called 40 bajillion schools last night trying to sort out my options. I was just hoping someone may know something I missed. Like whether or not I'd have to take them through "continuing education" dept or if I can take them at a university just as a non-traditional student. Thanks so much for the advice, I will look again :)
  10. anyone know of a place where i can take microbiology in a shorter, but very time consuming winter term?? (i'm thinking "january-term", "j-term" or "winterim".) or has anyone taken an online microbiology course???? if so, where? i live in the northeast and am willing to travel just to get this course done if i can make it happen. my original plan to take it has now fallen through and am slightly frustrated! looking for help... please :)
  11. Hey all of you nurses (or, if you're like me, then hi wannabe-nurses, too)! I have applied to several accelerated nursing programs, and my plan to fulfill my microbiology prerequisite this spring has fallen through. Now I'm scrambling to find a way and have been exploring several options to meet the deadlines of classes starting this summer for most of my programs! Does anyone know of any microbiology courses offered over a Winterim (shorter intense 3-4 week term in over December and/or January)? Preferably these courses would be offered in NH, MA, VT, or CT... but at this point any advice is great! Or, does anyone know of online microbiology courses offered this Spring that don't appear as "online courses" on your transcript (since some schools don't take online courses)? The advisor to one of the schools I've applied to said that as long as it doesn't state it was an online course, then it's gravy. Much thanks and warm wishes from the Northeast!
