What exactly are you unsure about? Assessments, relating to the patients, what to say when they ask you questions?? I've been doing OB/GYN for 5 years and I don't have any kids. So when they ask me questions I let them know that upfront and I usually answer with what I've seen or what other nurses have said. Have you tried asking some of your coworkers for pointers?
  2. I've been an OB/GYN nurse for 5 years and we've just started doing couplet care. One question that I get a lot is about the bleeding. Moms always think it's more than it should be. It should be like a period, depending on if it's a lady partsl or C-section. It's normal for them to bleed, but there shouldn't be any heavy/ pouring bleeding. As far at the abdominal hysterectomies. If you can take care of a med/surge patient then these should be no problem. You'll want to watch for bleeding from the incision site as well as listen for bowel sounds. Chances are they will have a foley so you'll want to keep an eye on urine output.
  3. You are right about that heat! I went to USC for my first degree and there's no heat like that Columbia heat.
