  1. Congrats on the new job!! I also will be starting my new job as a nurse educator August 1. I will be teaching ADN students at our local community college. I am excited, scared, nauseaous, jittery, etc..... Good luck to all. Any advice from seasoned educators out there?
  2. Let me say - I have been an RN for eleven years and I have seen my share of obnoxious patients and families. It is the simple, sometimes meaningless tasks that can make a patient/family content such as changing a bed, assisting with grooming, keeping them company, telling jokes, listening, trying within reason to provide familiar food, etc. The high-tech stuff we do and the endless charting, although necessary mean nothing to the patient who just wants some cool water or a friendly face. Nursing is a calling to me and I intend to always try to treat each patient as I would want my family treated - Believe me, I have experienced those nurses who are much too busy to nurse and it is frustrating and sad.
  3. How do my fellow nurse educators feel about CC vs University employment? I am a new graduate and have been offered a job at both. I am weighing my options but wanted to reach out for more advice.
  4. Hey Gallop - I will be graduating in December 08 - Good luck in school. Let me know how it goes. I am deep in practicum this semester and working on my CV and Portfolio - how about you?
  5. I am graduating December 08 with MSN in Nursing Education. I joined Allnurse today and was reading some posts under this forum. I read your 2004 entry and was delighted with the follow-up post. It feels good to hear that you are happy with your decision to teach. I hope to teach at the BSN level. Wish me luck:
  6. When I decided to go to school ten years ago to be a nurse, I needed a job that paid well. I make a very good living as a nurse but the reason I stay a nurse is because I love this profession. Not many people have the opportunity to witness a birth, hold a hand in death, comfort the sick, and teach healthy living to anyone who will listen. Nursing is a calling for me - thankfully I get paid well for it.
  7. I will be graduating with my MSN in Nursing Education December '08. I too am very excited to find this site and hope to learn from my colleagues. Good luck in your new career! Let us know how the new job goes - I will be interesed in hearing from a rookie educator like myself.
  8. Hi everyone, this is my first post to allnurse.com. I have been an RN for 10 years and am currently enrolled in an MSN program for Nurse Educators. I will graduate this December :) My question is, what is the average starting salary for nurse educators in your areas - I am from Mississippi.
