  1. a few years ago, nursing a dying patient, I experienced the weirdest thing: The patient, barely conscious the last week, suddenly opened her eyes, climbed straight in the bed until she was on her knees and looked at a corner of the room. Then she said; they are here for me, coming to get me. She calmed down and was gone only a few hours later. I wondered, have some of you experienced similar things?
  2. Appearently a lot of nurses have palmtops. However, this isn't used in Belgium, as it is pretty expensive and there isn't a lot of Dutch software available. Pocket references in Dutch for the ICU don't exist as far as I know
  3. Hello everyone, I'm a nurse working on ICU for 2 years here in Belgium. I sometimes find it hard to remember all the things I think are important. Therefore, I carry a notebook in my pocket with important schedules for examples about PICCO, Swann-Ganz, medication, etc. I also carry a mini-compendium around. My question is; how do you guys do this? Do you keep notebooks? What info do you keep in them? Thank you Vanessa
  4. Picco is a system of thermodilution measurement where you need an arterial line (femoral) and a central katheter (3 lumen) 20 cc of cold nitrate is injected through the central catheter. By thermodilution and pulse contour, you have measures like extravascular lungwater, cardiac output and cardiac idex. It works a bit like Swan Ganz, but much less invasive sorry for the bad english vanessa from belgium
