Yes, you can absolutely get the titer done for the immunity for mmr and also for the chicken pox. That was me! I'm as close to The Woodlands as you can get without actually being in The Woodlands! I'm sure I'll see you in the mornings if you'll be there studying! It is good that there are some friends that are in your classes. I only know one person and she's afternoons. I met everyone who is in morning classes at orientation. I guess that's okay, I think I do better on my own, no matter how many people say you do better with groups! We are pretty broke too. I think that's the nature of the economy now. I just found out today we officially need a new roof too. Whoopee!

Erica, I am so sorry I didn't post sooner. If I remember, I was in an army green shirt and black hoodie. I sat up front. When we introduced ourselves I said I was 35, have 3 daughters, etc. I remember you. Did you get a.m. or p.m.? I'm a.m. You know what, you had morning, but you switched out with Meg so she could have mornings, right? I keep trying to remind myself to enjoy the holidays because I just want to rush through and get back to school! I did CPR at a place called CPR Now. It is off of Boudreaux and Lain Rd. in Northwest Harris County (Spring). They are awesome, super fast and they do the class we need every Saturday at 9 a.m. Check them out on the web if you want. You get your card the same day. Keep in touch!

I don't know exactly what Kingwood's process is, but I got my background check card from the Board of Nursing after I got the fingerprint scan done for CyFair.

ERICA!!!! Congratulations! I will see you at orientation tomorrow girl! I was hoping that you would get in! :up::p:up: I can't wait to get all the info. on schedules, etc. I spoke with another new student when I went to turn in all my paperwork and she said we will be getting to schedule our classes tomorrow. I hadn't checked in a while, but saw the stethoscope "conversation" and wanted to pass along that my mom (a Kingwood grad!) found that when she bought one in an obnoxious color (currently she has an orange Littman and has kept it for years) it didn't grow legs and walk off. You can find them in tons of colors - especially on Ebay for $60 or so. Just a thought. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. HEy, I just figured out that an orange one will actually match my uniform if I end up at Cy-Fair!

For anyone who hasn't done CPR yet, check out cpr-now.com. They do the one for heathcare providers every Sat. a.m. at 9. We were done by 11:30 because they have mannequins for everyone, no waiting to take turns. It was great. It's also the AHA one that lasts 2 years.

She does seem nice. She actually started there in '93, right after my mom graduated from the LVN program. She said they will start calling after the next orientation. If there are any students that didn't come to one of the orientation sessions, their spots will be up for grabs. Here's hoping someone doesn't show!

Okay, so I was a couple of minutes late and didn't get to meet everyone. If you saw me come in, I had on a sort of army green top and jeans. I painted with the girls this summer. Chocolate brown and light blue in one room and pink and brown (one wall with stripes - that was 12 hours of fun!) in the other. I LOVE painting walls. It is kind of nice to just blank out and focus on the job at hand - music too! I will be at the orientation on Friday (just in case ). Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Yes, I was accepted at CyFair, alternate at Kingwood. They sent it in a letter. I figured I'd give you the heads up just in case. I hope a spot opens up for you. It would be nice to kinda know somebody.

Okay, got the info. from CyFair today. I made an appointment with F.A.S.T. to get fingerprinted for a TX criminal history record check. It's $44.20 (check or money order) or $45.69 if paying by credit card. I got an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. They say it takes a week for the check to get done. Also, they included orientation information. It is from 8:30 - 3:00 on 12/4 in the College Denter, CENT 152. There was also a release form included that was an okay to share information with the clinical agencies that they are affiliated with and the Board of Nursing. That is the latest I've got ~ hope it helps.:paw:

Well, don't think that you haven't gotten the information because you're an alternate. The only info. I got was the date of the orientation, 12/4. I don't know time or place either. I feel the same way that you do. I have been waiting for so long, I'm fine with going to CyFair. In fact, knowing that it is the toughest makes me want to go there in a weird, self-torture kinda way! When I get background check information or anything more on orientation Erica, I'll let you know.

Well, I did a background check through Certified, just in case the Kingwood thing comes through. Cy-Fair (in keeping with the "we're just going to do things differently" theme) is using someone else and their secretary told me that they mailed that information out yesterday. Orientation is December 4th for Cy-Fair. No date or time information was included in their letter of acceptance - just said more info. will be mailed later (just like the background check thing. No class/clinical schedule information was included with the acceptance package either. It's funny to have more info. on the program I'm an alternate for than the one that I got accepted to! I haven't heard what alternate spot I am in at Kingwood.

Okay, so I'm waiting on a call from the director of Kingwood's program to see what position I am in on the alternate list. There are 13 alternates for Kingwood. I went ahead and sent my acceptance to Cy-Fair as well. I am glad to be going somewhere in January, but I'll feel much better when I know exactly where! (and to be honest...Cy-Fair seems a little frightening!) I know I can be successful at either campus, I'd just like to know which one I'll be at!

Does anyone know if the same background check can be sent to Kingwood and Cy-Fair? Cy-Fair doesn't have any info., other than that it is due 12/1 and the acceptance letter said they would give more info. by mail later. Seems like they aren't allowing a whole lot of time. I dunno - I hope everyone had a great weekend. At least you weren't worried about what was (or wasn't) coming in the mail. A welcome relief!

Don't know if this info helps, but here goes: I got accepted to Cy-Fair & the letter of intent return date is 11/24. I am an alternate at Kingwood also. My points were 11.4448 (I was thinking it was 11.4888 for the longest time, but it wasn't!) The letter of intent to be an alternate must be turned in by 11/14. Kingwood has orientations on 11/21 and 12/2. Cy-Fair has orientation on 12/4. Background checks and Hep B immunizations must be finished by 12/1 for both programs. I really figured I would get into Kingwood's program and don't know a whole lot about Cy-Fair's. Do you know much about it?:typing
