Any Nurses recieving SSD/SSI
Thanks Iwanna for your advice. I have learned my lesson! The next interview I have I am going to say that I was a stay at home mom. Which is partially true because after I recovered from my bone marrow transplant I decided to stay home a while longer to be with my girls. Thanks again.:wink2:

which med do I give first
I agree with betterme29. I would give the pain medication first since 7 out of 10 is a significant amount of pain. Then I would give the Tylenol for the fever.

Any Nurses recieving SSD/SSI
I didn't explain myself. I am trying to get a job at a hospital that is closer to where I live. I had an interview and the supervisor asked why I had taken off the past few years. I goofed and told her because of cancer and that I was getting Social Security. Her attitude toward me changed immediately and she started asking me about my immune system, how often I go to the doctor and so on. I know my references are excellent and that's not the problem.

I am about ready to throw in towel for nursing job
Iwanna, I know how you feel. I have been out of nursing for 10 years and am ready to get back. I had an interview at a hospital close to my home and they were really positive until they asked why I was off. I made the dumbest mistake, I told them that I had had cancer. Well, they started questioning me about my immune system and so on. I knew right then that I had goofed. This hospital is within twenty minutes of my home and with gas prices so high I can't afford to travel to a larger town a little over an hour away. I don't know what to do. I have great references and they hire new grads. I have 10 years experience and am really getting disgusted. I am thinking about applying at wal-mart:bluecry1:

Nurse Chemo at your service
Hi Joy, you must be strong to be able to work while on chemo. I was on maternity leave and ready to go back to work when I was diagnoised. I went through nine months of chemo and six weeks of radiation. I was weak and tired and not sure if I could have handled the busy med-surg floor I worked on. Three months after chemo was completed the cancer returned and I went thru massive doses of chemo and had a bone marrow transplant. I went thru several difficult years with many complications. To make a long story short , I would have given anything if I could have continued working because I now want to go back to work and am having trouble finding work. Not working for the past 10 years is really hurting, most places want recent expierence. Also, I don't think I would have the problems with depression like I do now. I think if you can work it will be great for your sanity. Good Luck!

Any Nurses recieving SSD/SSI
I am receiving SSD and am trying to go back to work on a trial period, but having no luck. When the supervisor found this out her attitude changed. I feel hopeless and need to go back to work but I am beginning to think I won't get hired because of this. I know my references are good.

Is it okay to give an IM through clothing?
An Epi-Pen is the only injection acceptable to be given thru clothing.

Anyone having trouble finding work after taking several years off?
I am an RN with 10 years expierence in med-surg. I have recently tried to get a job at a hospital that has several positions opened, but have no luck. I had an interview, they were very informal and asked me nothing until they found out that I had been off because of cancer. Then the questions came, but none to do with nursing. They asked how my immune system was, how often are you sick?, how often do you go to the doctor?... and so on. Also, I haven't worked in 11 years. Is there anyone out there who has had this problem?
