Dimensional analysis worked very well for me too. I was never a fan of math and got just average grades in high school but I got an A in dosage calcs in college because I understood how this system worked. I was lucky enough for my instructor to teach us this so guess I don't really have suggestions for books, sorry....my opinion is just to learn dimensional analysis someway- it's so helpful!
  2. Hello, I'm a new grad as a MT LPN & I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I know, you can go to the MT state board of nursing website: www.nurse.mt.gov;&general & under board info go to board rules & rule notices; & somewhere, amongst all the other info you're not looking for, you should find the scope of practice for an LPN in this state. Just an FYI, I've recently been hired on a med-surg floor as an LPN but have been training with CNA's for the last 2 weeks. Next week I train with an LPN but am still not exactly sure what my role will be on the floor once I'm finished with orientation. I've been told I may do the same work as a CNA most of the time and as an LPN as needed, for now, which is ok, but not really the reason I went to school for 2 years =(. From what I've learned in school though, LPN's can be given pt's to care for as long as an RN is also available; they are not allowed to administer blood products; can do assessments as long as an RN does one once per 24 hrs; can take physician's order's; & I'm not sure on ordering meds through pharmacy- keep in mind though that just 'cuz they're in the scope of practice does not mean you will necessarily be able to use them in the facility where you are working. I don't want to sound negative because I'm happy with my new job right now but just want you to be aware of what you may have to adjust too as an LPN in this state!
