  1. someone posted a few pages ago that the gpa cut off is at 3.5 when they called and asked, but i called and the lady just told me 3.7....lol mdc kills me!
  2. yes siby, you are right about what the fiu site says about math. however, when i called the guy that i spoke with said that fiu replaces mgf with mac if needed. and now especially since florida colleges have done away with the CLAST exam, you must take MAC1105 in order to get your AA. so coming in to fiu and fiu nursing with MAC is fine. you cant take MGF (finite math) and use that as a required math at college for an AA....you need MAC and STATS to get an AA...
  3. i thought the deadline passed already for fiu? i was told that you cant apply now until the next start which is summer of next year...i didn't apply because i still needed MAC1105, statistics, and micro lab. i have straight A's in sciences, except for one B in chem Lab, no repeats.
  4. i took all of them last semester (spring). i had good professors...nutrition (HUN1201) i took online through virtual college...if you would like their names, message me :)
  5. Thanks Marggie!!!! Good luck in this process :-)
  6. Oh, and I had heard 1,000 applicants, but that was a couple days before the deadline. They still haven't even cashed the $25 check I sent with the application. lol bad sign? nahhh they will cash it regardless, Im being silly lol...anyway...as we all wait, I wish us all luck
  7. did they say anything else? i called today..and letters go out at the end of June/beginning of July...that's all I got out of the receptionist lol
  8. ok so I had to do a search for this post because I remembered it from a while back. I too have that program status Y. is this on everyones degree audit? Im not sure if that was already there, or if that was just added to my audit. I know its only May 4th and the deadline was last Friday...but hey! you never know lol Can someone check their degree audit? and check if they have that Y there? Someone who's applied for the Fall start...thanks :)
  9. thank you thank you :heartbeat
  10. thank you!!!!

  12. Maybe some religion classes since they are a catholic school. But it can be taken in conjunction with the program. At FIU, you must take the classes before you apply to get accepted.
  13. Thanks Takiyah!!!!!!!!!! I really appreciate all your input and info! Today I took my last final =) Now, we patiently wait.....I decided to forget about Barry. I enrolled at FIU to take the 2 required classes this fall that are FIU only classes (intro to nursing and communications). This is incase I don't get in MDC, so that I can apply at FIU nursing for next spring...again, just trying to cover all bases lol I wish you luck and Im keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!!!!!!!!! :tinkbll:
  14. Im glad that you are set on your choice. I am my own worst enemy! I do way too many "pros and cons" for every school, hence why Im going nuts here. Thanks again for your input, much appreciated :)
  15. thanx sunraygurl....i have not heard great things about bcc as far as people actually being able to pass their classes these days....kinda scares me. i do have all the pre reqs for them, except for that healthcore class.... where are u attending?
  16. and not to mention application fees..!
  17. Hey all...so last time I posted, I had accepted a spot into Barry's nursing program. I decided to withdraw my enrollment and requested a refund for the $225 that I paid. I applied to FIU (the school, not the program yet..I still need some courses they ask for) and to MDC. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I hope that I am not making a big mistake by not going with Barry. Just way tooo much. I was covered with loans/scholarships/grants, however, it was taking up ALL of it.. $765 or so a credit is just way too much for me. So, I pray that FIU or MDC wants me. For FIU I do not have the intro to nursing nor the communications course that they ask for. So it looks like next Spring for me ;( I so wanted to start this August...I already got into FIU last week, but I haven't applied to the program yet. It's two separate procedures. Thanks for listening to me
  18. heh southern....wont answer that, just like i wont specify exactly where he teaches...sorry thanks FSU, im usually positive, and im definately a cheerleader for all those around me...its just frustrating at times...which is why ive been negative recently. Insurance question: if you aren't under your parents medical insurance..then how are you not working during the program and paying for your medical coverage as well? Thats what turned me off from Barry. Because you have to have what they call "adequate coverage" which includes no more than a $1500 deduct and maternity coverage?! ok seriously, i cant even afford that now that I AM working.
  19. Im taking A&P II + Lab at one of the hospitals, not on campus. I have straight A's in sciences, except for one B in Chem Lab. I will have A's in Microbiology, A&P II and the Lab this semester which is over this week coming week.
  20. You dont have to justify it, I was simply quoting my anatomy professor who is invloved with the program. He obviously knows something we don't. And like anything else, I can believe that there are always politics involved. ie i know someone who works @ mdc, already has a bachelors and has a 3.0. She met with someone within the program...and voi la...she's golden, she's in. Im happy for her...but frustrated for myself. I know about the GPA Pool....it's great that there are so many students with great gpas working really hard to get in. Unfortunately I have classes affecting my all cum from yrs ago! So for now, I keep my fingers crossed....
  21. August, with the May 1st deadline. I already got accepted into Barry, but that seems just as impossible. They are requiring medical insurance. Fine. But with THEIR definition of adequate coverage. Which includes a deductable of $1500 and maternity. How am I supposed to pay for my own medical insurance? And quit my job because its 12-18 required credits a semester, so forget working full-time. By the way, why would they force me to have maternity coverage?!? dumb dumb dumb honestly, i feel like giving up. all avenues of possibilities are closing on me.
  22. yes but if you have a 3.4 and the cut off is 3.6, and if your GPA is locked then basically no matter how "badly' you want it, "it" wont be given to you. my anatomy II professor @ MDC told me last week that he knows for a fact that there is a lot of "mafia style" (his words, not mine) mentality going on at the nursing program. Basically, sometimes it can be as simple as "who you know"....and so you hear of a lot of stories of less than 3.6's getting in....Therefore us 3.4 and less have to PAY A LOT for our degree at a private school. Sorry, just venting.
  23. jmi: i already had my fafsa completed, all i had to do was add Barry's school code. Barry got my fafsa info within days. soon: i was torn between mdc (asn program $6,000) or barry. Im still not guaranteed a spot at mdc. Im going with Barry because they accepted me. i dont want to have to wait and wait on mdc....there is someone on here that applied and got denied 5x with a 3.3 gpa. I have a 3.4, and I was told that 3.6 is the cut off at mdc. So yea, Barry is a good choice for me. And besides, ever heard of loan forgiveness? Just sayin'
  24. Im going to the financial aid office this friday. I will keep you posted on any info they give me. Apparently, I have 28,000 in awards..and the tuition is 26,000 (for the year). There is a 2,000 dollar difference..but the tuition does not figure in the cost of books AND medical insurance that I would have to get through the school, but I have none on my own. The medical insurance is $1900+ yearly (there goes my extra $2,000)...but how about books? Uniforms? Cost of living! Ughhhh Im going to apply @ MDC anyway...but with a 3.4, Its not going to cut it. But Im going to try anyway... depressed and scared
