Hey Mich, I hear you on the patho micro! Yikes I can't wait for this one to be done. I have a lab test tomorrow and Lec test on thurs. I was excited about getting the letter too. I start in Aug, but I thought I would be able to see where my first clinical for 1630 would be and it is just a code. Anyone know anything about how to determine where and when that one will be?

If you have the choice (getting accepted into both programs) go to MCC (they are accredited). I've noticed many job postings that want applicants to be from accredited schools. Good Luck

I really wanted to meet some of you, but there were way too many people wearing sunglasses on their head. Was anyone sitting near the front? I was about the 3rd person there at 12:30. I think I did see Corozon, sitting on left side (facing stage) about 5 rows up on the end. I was in 2nd row 3rd from the left. Sorry I didn't say hi, but by the time I determined it was you I wasn't able to get to you before you left. I'm excited to meet you and make some new friends. I have shoulder length, straight blonde hair and will be carrying a large black bag with silver embellishments on it. I don't know what else I will be wearing, probably jeans and tennis shoes.

I'm in pathogenic microbiology. I guess I should have made that clear. Sorry about that. That is too bad that we will not be in the same class.

I am also 46 and was just accepted into nursing school. I also worry about how my age will affect things like being accepted among the younger crowd and getting hired after I am done, but obviously, I would say go for it. You are smart enough to ace your classes and just maybe more focused on acheiving your goals than a lot (not all) of the younger crowd. Good luck, it's very exciting to get that acceptance letter.

It sounds like you have improved your learning skills in your CNA classes and this shows you will work hard for something you really want. Most nursing programs are very competitive and you will need a high gpa. Every program is slightly different. For example, the program I was just accepted into only took your last 12 credits of classes, so you could go to a college for one semester; work hard and end up with an excellent gpa. Good luck in getting in.

No No No way. This is a huge committment and pets require a lot of attention, especially the first couple of years. You will be so busy in Nursing school and making new friends you will not have time for a pet. It really would be best if you could wait until you have time to train a pet properly. The orientation is not until May 20th. I was ranked #11 so I think I should be able to start in Aug. if I am understanding it right.

Hi Leea78, Yes, I think we are in the same class and the instructor is Michaelwicz. Sounds like he is tough, but interesting. I did not get the new book, I am going to try use the 5th edition. I would like to take a look at that book and compare to see just how different it really is. There is also a website listed in the book that is pretty helpful. Hi Hummingbird, I'm wondering about the how the start date worked last year. Was it based on your ranking at all? Congrats for making it in again. I think your cousin will get in. I know the person that ranked #156 and I really believe she will get in too. OOps, sorry not your cousin.

I paid my deposit yesterday and found out my ranking. I was surprised to find out I was #11. That made me happy :) and now I am really hoping that I can start in August. I see Gemberly was #8 (Good Job). Does anyone else want to share their rank to try and determine who may be starting together?

Woo Hoo!!! Thank goodness we got those letters today. I couldn't take much more. I got in!!! Congrats to everyone. I love the idea of wearing something so we know who each other are. For those of you on the waiting list, stay positive you still have a very good chance of getting in. I'm sorry for those who did not get in, but don't give up hope to become a great nurse.

Hi Amy, Thanks for the info. Who did you have micro with and was it 6 weeks or 8 weeks?

I am kind of worried about doing this in 6 weeks and do expect to do nothing else for 6 weeks. Kind of a bummer since that will be the beginning of our really, nice, short, season of beautiful weather. Oh well, I can study outside. I have been reading an old Micro book I've borrowed from someone to get a head start. Who did you have for this class. You can pm me. Thanks.

LOL!! I absolutly love your list. I have come to the conclusion that I will be useless this week. First waiting for the letter and next hopefully celebrating the next couple of days or possibly crying my eyes out.

Which session did you get into AM or PM? I can't say for sure which would be harder, but my guess is Patho would be harder. I will be in the 1-5 summer session and am studying now, but using an old book.

Mich, Good luck on that test. Taking tests is so much harder when your not sleeping good. Hopefully we will all get a good nights sleep soon. OK. I admit it. Even though it's Monday and I know we won't be getting letters today I am waiting impatiently for that mailman. I will also be checking this post constantly to see when the first person recieves a letter so I will KNOW it's time to get out to the mailbox. Best of luck to everyone!!!

I hope your next semester will change things for the better for you. I am hoping to be accepted in nursing school this fall and I am "older" too. The comments from everyone here are helpful and may help me to focus on having a good rapport with the "younger" ones.

Thanks for the info. I did get my letter. Things move a little slower up here in the northern part of the county. One more week and I will be checking my mailbox hourly.:wink2: Does anyone have any idea when the orientation usually is?
