  4. What state do you live in? I might want to move to take on the job you aren't wanting because it's waaaay too hard to find new grad stuff in California.
  5. When should I bug my school about the status of my transcripts/degree if I still haven't been told I passed or failed NCLEX RN? I took my test 2 weeks ago, and I don't have results, yet my classmates who took the exam after me had their license number posted on the BRN about 2 days after they took their exam. In fact someone who took the exam 3 days ago already has their license up on the California BRN site. I've been told delays are likely are result of record problems, but how can I tell if it's just sitting in a pile of records at the BRN or if my school actually screwed up and made a mistake in sending my information? I did try the bug with the registration on Pearson Vue, and it does show the "good" popup. I'm in this weird limbo now where I'm applying for jobs and I can't list a license on my resume, but I need to submit those resumes or I lose the chance of being considered, yet I'm also concerned my application will just be tossed aside because other people applying likely have an RN license.
  6. Hello everyone, For those of you who had taken the Psyc, Soc courses already, did any of you take them online? if so where? How did you determine if that place was a legitimate institution? Also, a long shot, but is there a way to take Speech online?
  7. Thanks for answers everyone!
  8. For anyone that's responded, how did you get a hold of the hospital position? Did you ask human resources? Is there certification required?
  9. I'm curious to see for those of you who are working what kind of jobs you are holding down while being a student? I have not applied to an RN program yet, but I am finishing my prereqs and I want to get an idea of what current students have done so I can plan accordingly. I see a lot of people who aim to have a job that adds experience, but I also see people who want a a job, but be relatively easy to allow time to study.
  10. CNA eh? Uh I'm sorry, but I haven't been keen on all the acronyms and abbreviations yet. What is a CNA, and is there some thread burried here with a list of abbreviations/acronyms?
  11. Hi everyone I'm halfway though the traditional 4 year undergrad college experience and recently discovered that nursing was among the potential career fields in my major (bio). However, I had not heard of anyone within the department that had pursued this. Most either went on to receive Masters/PhD or to med/dental/pharmacy school or some other alternative path. Unsurprisingly, none of my classmates ever gave a thought about it. I've been lurking this message board for a while now, looking at the various threads posted by other users about this, and I think I've become interested in considering. I have yet to ask my advisors about this because I wanted to do my own research into the field first. I am slightly aware of the various nursing programs, and it seems like the path for me to follow would be an accelerated BSN of some sort, especially since if I decide now, I can try to accomplish a nice chunk of the pre-reqs. I know internships exist for other jobs, but are there ways a person interested in nursing can check things out before committing? My volunteer experience in high school was a long time ago, and there were restrictions on what volunteers could do. Nursing really looks like the type of thing I want to do, but I want to make sure. Now, the other issue here, is that I'm a male and I've read the horror stories of male nurses with great shock and also admiration for those who decided to never give up. Please give me some areas of myself I should be examining to determine if nursing is right for me. Also, I'm not sure if I should have posted this in the male forum, but I was also afraid that I would be limiting my pool of replies. Sorry mods!
