  1. Thank you all for making me feel a bit better. In answer to the question about the HESI; I got an 85, and GPA was 3.47 cumulative. I got the rejection letter after I posted the message yesterday. I am applying to OCC, and Henry Ford to name a few; it's too late for some of the programs I called today. My mother was a nurse midwife, my sister is a LPN who is in the ADN program; I totally understand that this isn't the end of my nursing aspirations. It just felt good to share and vent my frustration. For the record, when I started at DU I met countless numbers of students that had horror stories not unlike mine. I researched, talked to advisors and was reassured that "those students probably had low HESI scores" or "they didn't complete the app right". Yeah, right.
  2. I am a student at Davenport in Dearborn, MI. I completed all my prereq's, had the second highest entrance exam score, (they use the HESI), and a gpa of 3.47! I followed their program to the letter; I haven't received a letter of acceptance yet. When I started at Davenport, lots of pre-nursing students shared their horror stories with me. The stories all sounded alike: good gpa's, good entrance scores, prereq's done...then they would change the admission requirements! I feel defeated; I am almost ready to give up on my nursing career plans. Can anyone suggest another school? I have checked all the community colleges; waiting lists are phenomenal everywhere in Michigan! I am 39, a single mom of five..I don't have forever.
