Certification neccessary for OHN jobs?? Help needed
OHN certification is not necessary to gain a job. I have found many many jobs available, without cert. Concentra , YOH Health Staffing, ALL Med Health Staffing are just 3 agencies staffing. Check your local staffing agency, theymay have jobs and/or may market you to clients. Take Care Health, a subsidiary of Walgreens has 370 plants with many Nurse jobs open. One needs a good nursing background, ER/ICU are the best. If, you have MS only that does not stop you from applying. There many openings now, Takecarehealth.com have tons. They want a Nurse to be open to gaining more certs, on the job learning, taking really good care of the employees. Being the Case Mgr etc comes with more exp. I recently took an assignment for13 weeks with my 36 yrs of exp with some in OCC Health and many more in ER and ICU.Currently I am working alone. You would take a job working with more exp staff. It can work well. Good luck!

Contract Terminated- What should I do now????
Forget the non-renewal phrase. Use what all Travel Nurses use" my contract was completed". Many Travel nurses do not receive an offer to extend their contracts for various reasons. Nothing to do with performance. After, you receive an interview you may or may not add more info. I would not add a thing. You have the paperwork to back up a good performance and will most likely receive a glowing reference. Your intro to the discussion was my contract was terminated, so that implies a contract, may not have had a specific end date. Your's ended.

per diem agency nursing and high amount of cancelation
That is why, if at all possible, sign up with all the agencies in your area, even ones a distance away. Are you open to hosp/nursing homes/Occ Health/Home Health and will work several different units? All hosps etc need nurses flexible with working units that need short term help. And, yes most schedules are set for the Holidays with less pts hosp in the season. Things pickup in Jan with the flu season. I learned quickly to work whenever they called because the next week there may be nothing.

First timer - Burn Unit
Having worked 2 Travel Burn ICU assignments found out a bit along the way. Burn units accept many other types of pts. most needing wound care- depends on the Unit, if sterile or clean. We had several Forstbite pts. and Ped/Adult Burn Smoke Inhalation pts. Lots of those pts seem horrible at first and later look quite normal. Burn pts come in as normal healthy people and do quite well, not having a background of illnessess. The unit is much easier than ICU- those folks have a very ill background. Diprovan, vents and all the drips work well during the immediate recovery period. Plus, Burn Units have the best Nurses, ever, Sheila
