  1. Have you thought of a different type of nursing? Your med surge/Oncology experience makes you a good candidate for Home Hospice. Being in the patients home gives you more time to "be with" the patient- dont get me wrong, you still have the charting and Dr's calls and there is a new twist of driving from one home to the other daily, but the description of what you like about your job sounds like it could be had in that type of environment. I know there are a few good hospice companies in your area, couldn't hurt to see what they have to say. Good luck!
  2. Depends on where you go- the non profit companies dont usually pay as well as the for profit. I know VNA's that start @ 27 per hr I've seen for profit companies starting pay @ 35 per hr I've been a HH recruiter in the North Shore area and worked with many compainies.
