Hey, I got your replies--I was not expecting psych to be one of the favorites.... I guess I've heard some bad stories about it. Education was more what I thought would be your favorite (so I was partially right)...anyways Thanks again!

Just an FYI, if you read up about the facility beforehand there tends to be something that sticks out that you can ask about (even if you already know the answer). Either way it shows your interested and you did your homework.

Would you care to be interviewed?

I understand that she has views as to what each level should hold, but the idea of the interview is to see what real nurses who have experience in the field think. This interview is to get their idea of what they think a Novice and Expert nurse is.

Ok guys, so I am currently in a Direct-Entry Nursing program, and we had an assignment to interview a nurse with some experience to find out their idea of what an "expert nurse" would be. If people could answer the following questions that would be great, and it would also help me out as to what I have to look forward to in the nursing career to attain the goal of "expert nurse." Also please identify what education you have, what type of nurse you are, and what kind of unit you work on. For ex: Associates Degree RN, pediatric unit. What would you consider a Novice Nurse? What would you consider an Expert Nurse? What do you consider yourself, and why? In the hospital setting, what level of nurse do you tend to find yourself around Novice (beginner), Advanced Beginner, Competent, Proficient, or Expert? Do you think experience is the main concept behind becoming an expert nurse, or does education play a large role as well? How do you view the discipline of nursing? And for those of you with a lot of years as a nurse.... Has the level of competencies changed since when you started? For better or worse? Thanks Everyone!!!
