  1. Ya, I got an email the other day.
  2. What was the interview like? I have an interview at the end of the month. Mostly wondering if its one of the high pressure ones or hey check us out ones. Someone told me there is a scenario to go through, is that true?
  3. Status updated this morning.
  4. Reeeejected! Oh well, I'm a few months short of two years nursing experience...I sort of expected this. I'll just try again next year! Good luck to you all :-)
  5. Its unchanged, still says "committee ready". It means you got in! I went there for my masters degree, had the same thing listed when I got in for that.
  6. Yes, congrats! When did it update? I think this doesn't bode well for me...oh well, good for you!
  7. Man...this is starting to drive me nuts...
  8. Well after the interview was essentially over, one of the committee members went on about needing to be really committed to becoming a CRNA and all of the sacrifice it required. I'm not sure if she was just saying it in general, but it felt like she was saying it to me.
  9. Interviews wrapped up yesterday. How'd everyone feel that they went? Seemed pretty laid back to me. Though, I felt like they may have mostly made up their minds prior to the interview :-\ Anyone's application status updated yet? I hear that will be updated long before letters or emails get sent out...Good luck everyone!
  10. Don't worry too much about the shoes. They're pretty lax about the uniform. I graduated in May from the CNL program...all I can say is good luck!
  11. I'm actually putting together a presentation for my clinical group about communication problems. The other day we had a patient that spoke Spanish and another that has sudden nerve deafness in the same room. It was interesting to see how everyone struggled with it for most of the day and how different approaches had to be taken. I was wondering if anyone knows some good resources on the subject. I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
  12. I discussed some of my assessment findings with my preceptor and we came up with "Impaired verbal communication." Now I'm trying to come up with a short term goal. What would be suitable? Patient will demonstrate improved ability to express himself? I'm not sure he will ever really be able to do that, but does that matter? Could the a.e.b. be something like "increased facial expressions"?
  13. Social isolation? Risk for compromised human dignity?
  14. Well, the patient doesn't really let his needs be known. He's totally dependent for his ADLs. He needs loud auditory stimuli to be roused and falls asleep constantly, even during feedings.
  15. He doesn't really react at all, that's part of the problem I'm having trying to work through this. My patient doesn't respond to much at all.
  16. Do these work? 1. Disturbed thought processes- Impaired ability to perform activities of daily living r/t dementia a.e.b. impaired ability to perform activities of grooming/hygiene. 2. Powerlessness r/t chronic illness and dependence on others for activities of daily living a.e.b. inability of client to express himself.
  17. Ahhh, right communication...duh! Is self care deficit considered psychosocial?
  18. I am currently looking after a patient with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and multiple past CVAs. Patient has expressive aphasia and only responds to loud auditory stimuli. What kinds of psychosocial diagnoses would work here? I was thinking... Powerlessness r/t helplessness aeb inability of client to express himself But that's the best I can come up with (I'm not even sure that one is right) and I need two.
  19. Is something like, "By such and such a date patient will have oxygen saturation above 92%"? Or is that too specific/arbitrary?
  20. I see, thanks so much for the help. Its really hard to put this all together in my mind still.
  21. Ahh, that makes sense. Would having the patient do deep breathing/coughing and then instruct the patient to do these things also be appropriate interventions?
  22. 1. Impaired Gas Exchange, related to alveolar-capillary membrane changes secondary to COPD, as evidenced by arterial oxygen saturation of 88%. Is that more appropriate? I have to come up with two nursing care interventions. Would teaching the patient how to use an incentive spirometer be good?
  23. It went well. It was a long term care facility and I was not quite prepared for my patients condition. Pretty much non-responsive and totally dependent. I got to do most of his care for the day. Bed bath, feeding, clothing (The charge nurse had a good laugh at what I picked out...I usually don't leave the house without my wife approving my clothing selection...), mouth care, bedding change, things like that. Pretty easy stuff. Now I just have to do this damn plan of care...
  24. My first clinical is tomorrow. I am scared to death. Wish me luck.
