The compensation package wasn't easy to give up, but when I started having anxiety and depression, my husband said it was time to move on. After several months, I would definitely say I have recovered. I've had stressful jobs before, but never a job that consumed so much. I will never forget the lessons I learned, though.

i was a doo for this company. while there are many good people who truly place the patient first working for this company, the infrastructure conflicted with my personal beliefs, values, and integrity. as far as a good place to work, i think it totally depends on the position you hold. the compensation is great for leadership roles, but the demands and expectations, in reality, are that you must make amedisys the priority of your life. for me, it was all-consuming, and it changed my life in a negative way for the 13 months that i endured. it did give me perspective on what is important to me and what i don't want to do. the extremely for-profit corporate world of amedisys is not for me. i would tend to agree with the above responder when she said run!!!!!
  3. I just started my Community class, too, but our syllabus say we have to do 45 hours. Who do you have? The requirements should be the same.
  4. May 16th!!!
  5. Yes, orientation is the 20th. There are five classes, but only one lasts the whole 16-wk semester. The others are staggered, so it looks like we're never in more than three classes at one time. I was expecting that there will be lots of writing. Thanks for the response. I heard around 170 got accepted out of over 300 applicants.
  6. I'm about to start the distance education program for RN-BSN through Texas Tech and was wondering if anybody out there has gone through it. I work full-time and completed my general studies courses over the past year.
  7. I asked my husband who still works there. He said it depends on what you like. The stepdown unit has more rapid turnover while the telemetry patients stay longer. I actually just went to Brack this afternoon. I hope you like it. Let me know.
  8. I worked at Brack for 5 yrs before Seton took over management. It used to be part of the City of Austin. My husband has worked their since 1992 and he still does. In fact, that's where we met oh so long ago. It's much different now. In case you don't know, Austin's illegal Mexican population is ever flourishing. Brack has become the hospital to go to for these folks. I loved Brack when I worked there, but it's not the same.
  9. I actually live about an hour from Temple. Temple is a small conservative city, but only an hour from Austin. If you're married and don't need much to do, it's probably okay. I know lots of nurses who work for Scott & White. It's a really big medical center/ network. I personally wouldn't want to live in Temple, but the saving grace is Austin.
