John, I must say EXCELLENT post! I am right there with you... (minus the 25 years in corporate America.) I am 25 and also already have a BS. After 5 years of working the grind out as an automation technician I have decided pretty much the same things you did. I make excellent money and solely support my little family of 4...... but its not enough. I want to earn money doing something that contributes.... I was never happier than 5 years ago when i was an E.M.T. I love helping people, love medicine, love doing something I am naturally good at! I am halfway there in the process of saving the money that will be nessecary to pay the bills while I school for a year or two to become an RN. Kudos to you in your decision for a fresh start! and for working so hard towards attaining it. I am hoping that in 2010 I will be looking back having accomplished the same feats you have!

BUMP! Is the NLN a test only used at my local school? Is my problem here with getting a response, that no-one has ever heard of an NLN exam? If so, sorry!

Hi everyone, I've been reading this forum for some time now and I am certain that becoming an RN is something that I want to do. I will be going to a info session at DTCC-Stanton the week after next and I am certain the answers will be there. That being said: Do you need to complete your pre-requisite courses in order to be able to pass the NLN exam? What essentially is the content of the exam? I have read English, Math, and Science. What level of these are we talking... High School or college level? I have a B.S from Penn State University completed in 2004, I definately want to be prepared for this exam though (and will be getting a study guide very soon!) I'm just trying to figure out how much dusting off of the old brain cells I need to do.... Thank you in advance!
