  1. RN Coder/Auditor

No more coding. You can work part time as an RN and make as much as you would as a coder. I have not even kept up my CPC.
  2. RN Coder/Auditor

Quit about a year ago. Things were not all they were cracked up to be.
  3. RN Coder/Auditor

No. You work as an independent contractor. I think they may now offer some full time positions but whether or not they offer any benefits, I'm not sure.
  4. RN Coder/Auditor

Yes, it can get a bit tedious if you have a lot of charts to do but overall its very interesting and you can't beat working at home.
  5. RN Coder/Auditor

Hi Lost In America, I'm a CPC. There are specialties that you can certify in but I haven't done so as yet. When you take a standard course you will still have to take terminology and some anatomy. Its a good review.
  6. RN Coder/Auditor

Hey jtinker, I submitted my resume Nov of 2008 and wasn't hired until April 2009 and didn't actually start to work until June 2009. They are bringing on new coders for new accounts all the time, you just have to be patient. Since I started working la...
  7. RN Coder/Auditor

Itshamrtym, You don't need experience to take the exam. The course, although not required I would consider a must. CCS pays by the chart. Once you get your speed and accuracy up you can do OK. It is all from home and they just started offering full t...
  8. RN Coder/Auditor

It may take some time but they'll get in touch with you eventually. It took them five months to bring me on. Good luck!

    Check your PM Jtinker
  10. RN Coder/Auditor

    Just sent you one.
  11. RN Coder/Auditor

jtinker, I'm sure you did fine. I didn't have a good feeling after I took it. It took me almost the entire five hours but I did OK. You should know after a few weeks or even sooner. I found out by logging onto the AAPC website and saw my name with CP...
  12. RN Coder/Auditor

I think one credential enhances the other. For instance I know that CCS will hire coders who are not RNs but if I'm not mistaken they must have several years of coding experience in addition to their CPC. I've seen positions for not only nurse audito...
  13. RN Coder/Auditor

Wiscodenver, The CPC is probably the most recognized of the coding certifications. Also, once you have it there are other certifications to layer on top of it in specialty areas of medicine, hospital coding, instructing and now they even have an audi...

I do work from my home computer but am in contact with my account managers in Kansas City on a regular basis either by e-mail or phone. I am enjoying it quite a bit actually. It can be very challenging but thats what makes it interesting. Even though...
  15. RN Coder/Auditor

Still there. I'm trained on two accounts now and do both procedural and diagnostic coding. No, I did not have any experience before taking the exam. I had just finished the course and then it was almost six months before I got the job. If you wish to...
  16. RN Coder/Auditor

I started in June, have been trained on one account where we just did facility ED procedure coding and am now being trained on an account where in addition to that we also do the diagnostic coding. They are very nice people to work for and give you a...
  17. RN Coder/Auditor

Hi netty78. I've just finished my second week and am still considered "in training" even though I am getting paid for my work. It is interesting and I'm enjoying it even though I'm not up to speed yet where I'm making decent money since we're paid by...
  18. RN Coder/Auditor

That's very kind. Thanks so much! I hope it works out. It would be nice to stay home!
  19. RN Coder/Auditor

I finally did get hired by "Clinical Coding Solutions". I'm supposed to undergo some training via conference call in two weeks and then start working. I did have to update my computer to meet certain specs the company has (one being a two screen syst...

I've heard good and bad things about Medassurant. The main thing is the work is not steady. I may check it out though. FYI there is a thread or two about Medassurant. I'm sure if you did a search you could find it.
  21. RN Coder/Auditor

Well, I've only put out one resume to Clinical Coding Solutions. They did reply back after some time and told me that they did not currently have openings and sometimes nurses wait for a year before a position opens. I was told that my information wo...

Hi mmc1213, Yes, I have finished the course and just found out a day or two ago that I passed the exam by going to the AAPC website. For what its worth I am now officially a CPC. I am awaiting my paperwork before I start applying. I had been in cont...
  23. RN Coder/Auditor

Hi 2bnurse-1, Haven't done bedside nursing in eons. I am also a Licensed Acupuncturist with a small private practice and taught up until earlier this year. I still do home care per diem one day a week to keep up my nursing skills. My interest in hom...
  24. RN Coder/Auditor

Well, I just found out I passed the exam and am now a CPC with the AAPC. As soon as I get my paperwork I will start to put out resumes and see what happens. I'll certainly post back here with any results.
  25. RN Coder/Auditor

Hi rntrap, Got your PM but couldn't figure out how to send a reply. I found my CPC course through the AAPC website and it was being given locally. It was a 14 week, two nights a week for two hours program. I just took my CPC exam and am awaiting resu...
