  1. What is the percentage of the addicts that attend meetings have gone on their free will? Most of them, have been forced to go because of trouble with their job, trouble with the law, ect. They fall off the wagon because why????Meetings are for addicts....And I do understand the disease of alcoholism. My father died at age 59, was picked up 5 times for drunk driving, was in a very bad accident, broke his neck and back in several places. Meetings did not help him. He continued to drink as well as go to meetings. So my believe is that meetings are for some that accept their "lives as unmanagable".
  2. SassyGN You are right! Why is it that recovering addicts continue to go to meetings night after night, pray for sobriety, been sober for nearly 6 to 10 years and still consider themselves an addict. My own believe is that they get into the habit of meetings after so all and think thats what they need to do. Why not take up biking, hiking, gardening, canoeing, boating, fishing, ect. Anything besides wasting an hour of their time to listen to the same stories in different content to stay sober. Spike45
  3. ms. papa This is what I have been trying to let everyone know. You know now that you have labeled; what hospital, doctor's office, clinic, health care facility what's a nurse that has obviously been an addict. Don't you think they are afraid. One of the post says to be totally honest and I disagree. If you are totally up front and honest it only bites you in the you know what. Spike45:banghead:

Get into a rehab center. Now
  5. Get an attorney!! The Health Professional Recovery Program is not here to "help" you. They are here to protect the public from you, an "impaired" nurse! You do not want to get involved with this organization if you can help it. I can't discuss my exact experience right now. However, minor offense with alcohol and I have a three year monitoring agreement, which costs me over $500 per month. The earlier poster was right about counselors in recovery. If you do decide to go on this path, be very careful who you choose. You have no idea how difficult HPRP is. Don't let them put the guilt trip on you for your past wrongs. You are on the right path now and no longer need to be "punished". Good luck!
  6. That really is to bad that you have to surrender your license. This program that they set up states that it is a case by case. However; I am starting to believe that it is not. I believe that it all has to do with the fact that the supervisors, doctors, evaluators see some people coming. They believe that all health professionals have a substaintal amount of money coming out their ears. I do believe that those who do have problem get help. However; being in the health profession we all know that probably not everyone who are in this program believe that they have an addiction problem. Sincerely, Spike45:cry:
  7. This Recovery Program is for those who do have an addiction problem. However; when you have been assessed by an evaluator that is a recovery addict of drugs and alcohol they see everyone with a problem. Before anyone should sign any contractual agreement with their provider seek legal advice first. My believe is that once you are in the program you are there so stay. Sincerely, Spike45
