Anybody works in Kaiser Permanente as an Emergency RN-Clinic? I saw a job posting regarding this. Please let me know why is it called clinic?
  2. Hello, I work in an ortho clinic. I was asked to research about kenalog and depo-medrol to be used for joint injections (knee, hip, shoulders and hands). Which one is better? Which one lasts longer? Which one works faster? Which one has great benefits? Please advice and thank you in advance!
  3. Hello. I would like to get some opinions as well. I am not resigning but planning to change from being a full time nurse to per diem nurse. I will be having a 2nd panel interview next week for a part time position in another hospital (with full benefits), 0830-1700 4x a week (works great for my daughter's school time) and hoping that they will accept me. I have a positive feedback from my first interview. Just in case I got the job in the other hospital, I don't know what steps to take to tell my manager that I want to work per diem with them. I work in my current hospital for 2 years now. How do I approach them? Should I ask the HR first before making a move just in case I got accepted in the other hospital? So confusing!
  4. Thanks for your response. I felt excited though of reading your responses. So, what step do I need to do? Do I apply first to the OR position and see the result? then If ever I got the position, resign on my current position? Or talk to my manager about applying onthe position on same hospital so that they can recommend or help me out?
  5. Hi. I am getting OR nurses' attention because I want to have an idea how it is to work in the OR in California setting. I am currently working in an ortho floor for over a year now but less than 2 years. I found out that they are hiring OR nurses in the same hospital where I am working. When I was in nursing school, I love my experience in the OR. Discovering and exploring new things everyday and every case. Can you give me your suggestion or opinion on right steps to do. Do you think they will accept me based on my minimum experience? If so, how do I start applying? Do I need to consult my current director or apply for the position first and see? All suggestions are welcome and I give you thanks in advance. Have a nice day.
  6. Hi. I would like to share I I feel right now. I work days in an ortho floor. I can't sleep because the night RN that I gave report to called me and asked which one is the right order. My mistake is, I typed the a wrong dose of a medication in the verbal order. But in the verbal order sticker, it was the right one. I even told the night RN how much the pt is getting for tonight. I wrote it in the MAR as well. The only mistake is I wrote the wrong dose, which will show to the pharmacy. Now I am worried and can't sleep because the doctor will find it wrong, he might think that the pt was given the wrong dose. Please give me an advice?....? One more thing, please give me an advice on what to do... because most ofthe time that I go home, I am worried and still think about work. I want to enjoy my day off...but since my mind keeps on thinking about work, I can't. please give me your sugeestions. I will realy appreciate it. thanks!
  7. Thanks for those who replied. I really appreciate it. I know it's normal to be scared in discovering and doing new things but, just like what all of you said, I'll be ok and I'll learn a lot. I'll update all of you about how I'm dOIng on thE floor. thanks again. If you have more words of encouragement, I will be very happy.:redbeathe
  8. I'll be working in the ortho next month as my first RN job. I'm getting worried because majority of the nurses told me that it's hard to be in an ortho floor especially if you have no experience as RN. Youwill encounter PCAs, PCEAs, a lot of pain medication, a lot to chart, a lot to be cautious of, etc... They always say, and I can see in their faces, that I can still back out if I'm not sure. But, it's hard for me because I was interviewed and will be starting soon. I don't want to have negative impression to oue head nurse. Please give me an advice on what to do so that I will be prepared and knowledgeable to work in my first RN job- Ortho?:bluecry1:(:uhoh21:
  9. Hello guys. I'll be working in an ortho floor as my first RN job. Please give me idea on how I can prepare for my orientation. I will be starting by last month of november or first week of december. So I still have time to prepare myself. This concerns me a lot because I haven't used my nursing skills for 2 years since I am working as a nurses aide and reviewing for my RN exam. Any ideas will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. muwah!:heartbeat
  10. Hello. Anybody who are working in an ortho floor and love it? Please give me an idea for my interview about "Why work in ortho?" I'm a new RN. Thanks!
  11. I need information on what to do with regards to resigning. I am working as as a nursing assistant in a hospital. Now that I have my RN license, I asked my manager on what to do so that I can work immediately as RN. She asked the nurse recruiter, then found out that there are few new grad positions. Then, my manager gave me an option if I would like to be interviewed by her assistant director and herself for ortho or call the nurse recruiter to ask for new grad positions. I decided to call but I wasn't able to because whenever I call, she's on the phone or interviewing. I don't like to be on that ortho floor because I know the attitudes of some staff as well as the assistant director. Would you like to work in a department with full of gossiping? And then, my friend referred me to another hospital, she already talked to the manager personally and said that I'll just submit my resume online and get attention to her name. They have openings for new grads. Now, my dilemma is, how to resign, what about the benefits I'm having right now and I still have sick hours that I will not get if I resign. What will I do?
  12. Hello. I would like to ask for an idea/opinion. I'm a new RN. I'm confused of what department I should start. I am working currently as CNA in a hospital. Now that I passed, I will be promoted to RN. But I don't know where to start. I have a friend working in postpartum, and she told me that I'll love the floor because the staff are very nice as well as the supervisor. But some says, that postpartum floor are for retiring RNs. Is that true? And then, my manager is offering me the option of staying on her floor in the orthopedic. But, It takes a lot of lifting. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
  13. Thanks ! I'm considering of working in the labor and delivery/NICU/postpartum. Actually, not sure at the moment. Do you have any suggestions or opinions for my case. I graduated last 2006 in the Philippines. I am currently working as a CNA in one of the hospitals in Santa Monica, CA. Hmmm...What do you think?
  14. Hello. I would like to thank this website. When I was still preparing for my NCLEX-RN exam for the 4th time, I was posting my feelings that made me feel confident, not worry to much and have hope that I will pass. Finally, I passed for the 4th time.I checked the CA BON website last night to check if my name and license number is posted already. I was afraid at first and decide to wait for the mail, but I told myself, what if!... So I checked, and "TARA!!!!!!" My name is there. whohooooo!!! I was so happy, even now, I feel like I'm dreaming. I cried tears of joy. Jumped like a child, danced, shouted so loud...etc...I woke up this morning so peaceful, me and my daughter went to church. Thanks to all who replied back to my postings. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I would like to share for those who answered 265 questions, hang in there, I thought I failed again, But I made it! Study saunders, kaplan, the test taking strategies and the NCSBN learning extension. Those are the reviewers that helped me pass. Now, I'm waiting for my license to be mailed.... Thanks again! Muwah. God bless:heartbeat:heartbeat:yeah::wink2::coollook:
  15. Hi. I took the NCLEX-RN exam 6 days ago. For sure, by now you can see if you pass or fail through the CA BON. But, I'm afraid of what the result may be. I already failed 3 times, I'm anxious of having the bad feeling again. I'm trying to avoid to worry but, my past experience of taking the exam is bothering me. What should I do?

Hello. Just want to express these feelings. I am reviewing for my NCLEX-RN exam for the 4th time. I feel bad everytime I think of it. Others did it for the first time. I am a full time nursing assistant, mother of a beautiful 2 year old daughter and newlywed. My family recently came here from the Philippines. Sometimes I get worried everytime my co-workers ask me "When are you gonna take the exam?, How you taken your boards yet?" They knew I did it once only. They didn't know that I already failed 3 times. So sad. I need your advice. Thank you in advance.
  23. thank you so much. Good luck too. Are you studying full time? Or working also? Because I am working full time as a nursing assistant at night. Sometimes I find hard time to study because when I got home, I'm tired.
  24. Hello. In answerinf questions, how will you know that you're ready to take the NCLEX-RN exam? What's the target score? I failed three times already, read saunders, Kaplan, took a review course and mosby. Right now, I'm focusing on answering questions, and targeting a score and see the improvement. What's your feedback? Thanks in advance. God bless
