Nurse Corps loan repayment 2015
Has anyone out there received or hear of anyone receiving the denial letter? This gives me hope as well but I looked back at last years threads and there wasnt mention of denial letters until 9-30 so I am curious if this is new for this year?

I'm an NP still waiting-tier 2 and 90 something percentile. Being tier 2 I didn't have a ton of hope-but hearing RN tier 2 and 4's get it gave me a tiny bit...

Do ARNP with First Assist make more money?
I did NIFA and found it very helpful to learn the skills needed to be competent as a first assist with simple skills that are not heavily taught in NP school. I scrub all vascular cases now as I have cut my surgeons time in half by assisting (now 2 years in) which makes us more productive, earns him more RVU's, and makes a good case to later ask for salary increases based on improved productivity (we have doubled our volumes each year the past 2 years). So directly no it does not help your salary initially, but I have found it does help later on... but is not required to bill medicare and medicaid if you are advanced practice.

Kate B- do you know your debt to loan ratio? Just ask as you give me hope . I am tier 2 or tier 4 (not sure if I am disp share or non disp share) and an NP. You are a RN correct? Exciting to see someone in a tier 4 get it... you must have some crazy ratio!!! If you are willing to share that would help us all out here guessing what a ratio for a tier 4 needs to look like!

Thank you so much for posting this. I've been lurking waiting to see if anyone hears. Im a tier 2 with about 90% ratio so my hopes are not very high but since 50% are going to NP's I am hoping for a long shot . Appreciate knowing that its a "july" and not a "may" notification year

ACNP/RNFA salary negotiations
Vascular Surgery WA state. I did go to the NIFA program to first assist to improve suture skills but it is not required in WA state for billing to be an RNFA as long as you are an ARNP. I make 115K which includes 10 'call' days a month where I am on 24/7 surgical call to assist. I average 1-2 surgeries that bring me in per month. I assist about 40 scheduled surgical cases per month. I perform fistulagrams, tunnel catheters, IVC filters etc in IR on a scheduled basis. I have a tueaday-friday work week with one day of clinic otherwise I am in the OR or IR suite. I round one weekend per month. Its a nice schedule for a surgical specialty. If I would be willing to do more time I would likely make more... but totally agree on the work life balance aspect

Need advice on salary
I work in vascular surgery (I first assist in OR and do fistulagrams, IVC filter placement, tunnel dialysis catheters, temp caths, mediports in IR). I make 115K. I have a friend who works in a similiar position as yourself in ICU and she makes 113K. I would say you are a little low and deserve a raise. BTW we are in WA state. Our cost of living is great... we have a large NP program so we have all banded together to get NP's the pay they deserve. I still feel like we are underpaid for our invasive procedures and should be in the 130-170 range as the other poster mentioned

AANP website 92% Fitzgerald 75-80% am I ready?
Hi everyone I did the 50.00 practice AANP test tonight and got a 92. I get 75-80 percent on Fitzgerald generally. I am going to do the APEA practice test as well. I sit next monday. I have a job at a hospital I have been employed with for 10 years... so no pressure or anything if I have to tell everyone (and I mean everyone) I failed. Anyone have any idea how the website AANP test correlates to success on the real exam? I use leik, APEA, and Fitzgerald. I have barkley and the FNP secrets but will not get around to them in time (Got them all off ebay from a really nice former student who shared her wealth.) Any thoughts out there.
