  1. Has anyone taken both a&p1 and a&p2 during the same semester? Do you recommend it? I am planning to do this.... Please advise. Thanks.
  2. Hi, I am going to Sac State here in Cali and it requires other science class before I can take microbiology. Same with Chemistry. Anyone going through the same situation...
  3. Thanks to all those who replied. I found your suggestions very helpful and I am going to pursue the BSN path. I will try to apply to the MSN program too.
  4. hi indiophil, "...but there are accelerated programs for associate degree nurses with bachelors in other fields." can you explain further what you mean by this? i really want to be a nurse quick...and i can't fathom the idea of waiting until another year to start...if i were to go for my accel bsn i will have to much longer. i am quited interested in the accel program for associate degrees...what are those? i am planning to finish up my degree this year at sac state in liberal studies. thanks so much.
  5. Hi fellow nurse-to-be's.... I have a dilemma. I am trying to finish up my bachelors (in non nursing field) and hopefully i will be end of this year. I want to be a nurse---as soon as possible. Should I finish up my bachelors first, then apply for accel BSN? I heard this can be very competitive and hard to get in. Plus, after I finish my BA I still have about 7 more pre-req classes to take and complete before I can even apply for the accel BSN program. This could take another 1 year after end of this year. And if I dont get accepted to accel BSN program..I might have to wait longer. I am in Sacramento, CA by the way. Should I opt for the ADN instead? If I decide to go the ADN route, can I start applying for for any nursing school now? Also, in the ADN route, they may not require me to take all those prereqs, right? I know eventually I want to shoot for the MSN so I can teach. But I cannot imagine taking another 2 to 3 years to get into a nursing program. Also, someone told me that while waiting to get into accel BSN program, I can start taking upper division classes while I wait. Is this good to do? If I take those classes now, then when I am actually accepted and enrolled in the BSN program, will I have to repeat those classes? Should I even finish up my BA? Or just abandon it for nursing school instead?

  7. Hi I am 5 feet tall and weigh about 96 pounds. Am I fit to be a nurse? Would my size make me less likely to be hired? Do nurses do lots of lifting and transferring people around? Thanks.

  12. Hi, I will have my BA soon in a non science major (end of 08). I decide Nursing is going to be my career. I think I have to take some more science classes to meet the pre reqs since I didn't take those yet. Probably in the Spring of 09 I will take the rest of the pre reqs to meet the requirement. My question is: I want to start the accel nursing program in the Fall of 09...is this do-able? Do you know of any schools that I can apply to in January 09 that will accept students with pre-reqs in progress? This is a career change for me and I am not getting any younger..I just want to be done with Nursing school so I can start working...lol....If you have gone this path please share your ideas. Much appreciated...
  13. I am in Northern California...I am currently a Sac State student majoring in Liberal Studies and will finish with my BA end of this year..I am planning to apply to Sac State accelerated nursing program. I have not even done my pre-reqs for nursing yet...I want to start taking some this fall but wondering if I take those classes and dont get accepted to Sac State, will those pre reqs transfer...?Thanks for taking the time to answer...I am also considering other schools in southern cal and the bay area if necessary..
  14. Hi all, I wonder if someone can give me a ballpark figure of how much it cost to get from a BA to a BSN accelerated program? Would I qualify for financial aid at the school if I have very low income (less then 12,000 a year income). If possible, please point to me to some schools that are not too expensive (even out of state if possible). I wish to apply for the BSN accelerated program but I don't have money to pay for it. If you have gone this route please share your story. Thanks so much again for helping.
  15. Hi All, I am not too crazy about poop wiping and hygeine care...but of course if I have to do it I wouldn't mind....But I am wondering any nurses out there in any specific specialty where you don't have to do too much of that kind of stuff. Personally I am very interest in operating room (I would have become a surgeon of any kind if I could). Thank you for your input.
  16. I am going to finish up with my bachelors in liberal studies end of december 08 and planning to go into nursing after that...i decide teaching is not for me...should i finish it up first since i only have a semester to go or jump into the nursing program and not finish up the degree. i am afraid that if i have my bacherlors already then i may not be eligible for financial..any advice? also what is the best way to go about getting into the nursing program? would having the bachelors degree help? i am in the sacramento area...which is the best schools...also..how long would it take before i can complete with the nursing program...my ultimate goal: BSN in nursing. Thanks so much for responding.
  17. Hi, I want to get my LVN license quick so I can start working. What is the fastest route and how much would it cost me? I eventually want to purse a BSN degree too....I thought about being a CNA first but I am not too sure about that...I heard that you can gain great experiences being an CNA first though but I don't think I want to waste all that time though. Anyone?
  18. Hi I want to become a LPN. Where do I start? Do I have to have certain qualifications or certain classes out of the way before I can enroll in LPN-RN programs? I am graduating this Dec 08 with my first BA in Liberal Studies and now decide to become a nurse. This is the route I am going: CNA to LPN to RN. I will take a CNA course first to get my certificate to work while I go to school to become a LPN. I just want to know...in order to be enrolled in LPN school..do I have to have certain prerequisites before I can be admitted? Please help. Thanks.:loveya:
  19. Hi I am wondering if CNAs often have to prepare meals such as cooking for patients?
  20. Hi Everyone.:loveya: I am a stay at home single mom wanting to go back to school to become a nurse eventually. I think it is best I start out by being a LPN first because I need to have a job to support myself and my daughter. Can anyone give me any idea how I can get start? How long does it take to finish to program before I can get my LPN license and start working? What kind of jobs should I look for in the meanwhile that is related to nursing so that I can have nursing experience once I get my LPN license? What are some good LPN schools in the Sacramento Area? How much does it cost to get an LPN license? I plan to go to the community college in Sacramento. Is the LPN program difficult to get in? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.:redpinkhe:dance:
