Name Badges Worn Backwards
A large number of people have written they were not aware their name tag had turned. If I want to know whos taking c/o me or my pts Ill ask or let you know your name badge is turned around. It is common practice in the ER to do this with your name tag.I personally have never worried about it,nor do I condone the practice.First name and RN on both sides will do the trick.

The nurses every co-worker hates
Im curious. Are you male or female?I couldnt tell by your comment and am not trying to be rude, but I will tell you that as a male our voice inflection and attitude can be misconstrued.Your posture, how you hold your hands and many other things can irritate many people nomatter if your m/f.Im truly sorry you are going through something such as this.Im sure you are about the job and are a very good nurse.Maybe just lighten up and smile occasionally.Approach others first with assistance and dont talk down to anyone-ever.Good luck with your issue and as intelligent as you seem you will figure this one out.

Critical care nurse with migraines on disabilty
Are you really ready to go back to work? How are your migraines controlled@this point?Staying busy and making money @ the same time is good for the person in so many ways, yet you hav'nt had the new implant so whats to make your job think youll be any better than when you left?Im with others who say go back to your old place and request part time or per deim, but wont that screw up your income stream from your disbility?Anyway ,go back and work pt/pd and when your new implant is in and your ready you can slip right back into fulltime or work registry.Good luck to you.

Nobody told me that after graduation...
Ive tried to read these comments with an open mind, but i find it difficultdue to several reasons. How do you or others know whos the worst in the class?Do you really think HR or the mgr. of the dept.you'll be interviewing for will look @ your transcripts? So what that you went to a "brand name school",you got As and Bs,that doesnt tell me nothing about how are you going to do on the floor.Hospitals want people who can do the job without killing anybody and can be clinically competent.A bunch of you that are commenting sound like burned out ER nurses, not someone needing a job.Its up to each of us to do the best we can and to try to help each other instead of looking for excuses.Im a male with LVN/RN @ 30 years and I still see the new RN that knows they can do the ER and then you have them and they fall apart. There is far too much blame and not enough looking @ oneself for answers. We all have to start somewhere @ a level that you are comfortable with, but with this economy thats not going to happen for every new grad. Its hard on RNs with expierience when they hire new grads with book smarts and poor clinical. You have to decide what you need to do to become hirable.Get your BLS,ACLS,PALS and any other certs you can.The 1 thing you dont want to do is go to an agency right out of school.Protect yourself every way you can. ADN vs. BSN?Just give me somebody that can do the job.

How long did you stay at your 1st job?
I stayed almost 1 year and that was too long to give Humana hospital west hills. It was a med/surge floor with occasional floating to oncology and tele.a terrible working and learning enviroment for a new grad on night shift. No preceptor and 2 nurses that were little help.It is not unprofessional to leave before a year if the hospital is not up to par on your expectations. It shouldnt matter how long you were at a particular place, just what you learned while you were there and if its detrimental to you in any way-leave.

Nurse suicide follows infant tragedy
This is a tragic example of why potassium chloride should not be within reach of any nurse or Dr. on any floor but especially on a pediatric unit.It seems that someone always has to be injured or killed before any type of reform takes place and if the potassium had not been on the floor I would not be writing this. There is plenty of blame to go around.:confused:Im so sorry for the families of the pt.and nurse.
