PNA fee??
very true! unfortunately, local PNA offices when asked where the membership goes all they can ever say over and over again is that they are endorsing it to the main office. And when asked about the nurse's benefits? They just keep mum about it. They should have 'something' for the nurses who are paying for the membership each year.

guys, when you do your Part A exams, do you give your own schedules? Or is it the QNC who gives you your schedules? Or where you given options on the probable schedules and you just choose the schedules that suits you?
-
PNA fee??
"my reason for being a member in PNA is that, most employers here and abroad wants their nurses to be one prior to employment.:D" Exactly! and it's really quite unfair! We're just paying for the name and no compensations whatsoever.

"FYi lang to my dear OZ applicants... Great minds think alike... can you believe that the EB3 visa... employment based immigration where US nurses fall... has further retrogressed from 2005 to 2003...we made the right decision... Lets go forward in reaching our Australian Dream." heard that one too from a friend who heard heard from a friend. But from it went further to 2002! I don't know where they get this info... i hope it's really from a reliable source.

USA, Ireland, Uk, australia, Mid east or asian countries? where do you prefer?
US is my first choice. My second is Australia.

PNA fee??
What can we get from being a member of PNA? We just keep on paying for membership fees and then what???? They don't even host training or seminars that can benefit us, nurses. Maybe they do, but again very rarely... Once, I tried to inquire on the benefits of the members, the receptionist just told me it's just for a 'name'... After that, I didn't even bother paying for the annual membership fee. So, for PNA Staff, please do update the nurses on your proposed plan of action and the benefits that we can get. Many thanks!

Filipino Nurses who passed the NCLEX without the help of Review Center
1. What are the materials that you used? Several. Mostly CDs (Q&A) from Mosby's, Saunders, Kaplan, etc... and I read the whole book of Saunders MedSurg. 2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day? for the first 2 months, 1 hour per day during the long nights of reading but forgetting everything I read the next day... answering Q&A on CDs ---from 50Q to 200Q per day, as long as I can take it... A month after the exam, I review the whole day for 2 hours straight, take a break for about an hour, then review again... same routine, unless if I'm too tired to study and I slept the whole afternoon. But when I do, I make it up in the evening. If I'm too stressed, I go out shopping or meet friends and have fun for 1 whole day. 3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam? I had my preparation for 3 months... the first 2 months, I studied every night since I'm working in the morning. But it only took me for 1 hour of studying before I become so sleepy and off to bed I go. :) Not much, actually. I did a lot of reading and answering test questions from the CDs. But a month before my exam, I filed for a vacation leave from work so I can concentrate on my review. I review every day. But I whenever I'm stressed, I just stop. Sometimes, go out shopping or meeting friends and have fun for 1 whole day, just to relieve my stress. 4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam? Before studying, I pray. When I'm tired of studying, I pray. When I really want to give up, I pray. When I'm inspired to study, I pray and thank God. As I end my review for the day, I pray. PRIORITIZATION, DELEGATION, ABC 5. Take one or take two? Take one. Thank God! ***another important tip: WHEN IN DOUBT WITH THE Q IN THE EXAM, PRAY. and don't forget to THANK GOD NO MATTER WHAT.

Having a Filipino preceptor is not really the issue. What we should understand is that we should do our best to make it in the exams. There are some who said they failed the IELTS because of a 'Filipino interviewer' instead of having a 'British or Australian' interviewer. The fact is, everyone has there own sets of standards. Maybe Filipinos have a higher standard that the rest of the nationalities, for the mere fact that 'WE' as Filipinos do really EXCEL in almost all categories. So guys, let's not trouble ourselves with this things. When I was in Australia for a short visit, I found out that Filipinos are very much willing to help and to welcome other Filipinos. Although, I heard some that not everyone are in 'good standing' with fellow Filipinos. But, wherever we are, there are good and bad people around us. There are some who wants to help us achieve our goals and there are some who wants to put us down. Let's just do our best to excel then. We, Filipinos are very flexible and competent. Let us face each challenges with courage and our never ending optimism and most of all, our faith in God. Good luck to all our endeavors. May we find each other in Australia in meeting our goals as excellent and competent Filipino Nurses. Cheers!

That is a very helpful information. thank you. I am considering of signing in for a consultancy, ASNC/ASNM Consultancy. I'll be paying around AUD9000... now that i've browsed on QNC... it is way much cheaper to apply directly rather than signing in for a consultancy. The only advantage that I can get from this consultancy is that they will assist us in the application, provide review materials (which are very hard to find here in the philippines), airfare and at least 4 weeks housing accomodation in australia while taking the part B exam, arrange for our sponsorship (they said they will find an employer for us), and relocation. I'll think about probable options.... and having those review materials would be a very great help. here's my email add: Many Thanks! :)
