I think this school is like a one of the private LVN schools. They accept any students who want to enroll without any difficult entrace tests and get some money in advance. However, they will not keep any students who fail an exam during the program since they don't want to jeopadize their high passing nclex rate. This method is also used for most private LVN school at the moment. It is very easy to get into the program of private school, but you should be prepared to keep passing exams of the program since each semester is pretty expensive.

i am a new lvn and just started working at a doctor's office for infertility 4 months ago. at the interview, i was told i will be part-time for the first 3 months and changed to full time after that. the manager explained to me that part-time will be 9am to 3pm or 4om m - f and also sat or sun sometimes. for the first 1.5 months, i was working on this schedule. then, i was told to take 18 days off since the doctor would be on vacation. since the doctor came back from the vacation, the manager said to me that they have to cut more time due to their budget. since then, i have been working different time schedule such as 10am - 1pm, 1pm - 4pm, they give me the schedule the day before while checking pt appointment for the next day. often i am told not to show up for the next day since not many pt. so, now my salary is 1/3 and that is less than $1000 a month. i also found that that the clinic only needs me for post-op care for pt who had egg-retrieve surgery. there is no licensed nurse at my clinic. there are 1 student and 1 medical assistant working there. also they have many pt who speaks my language. before they hired me, they used to ask for a nurse from agent for post-op care, but it was very expensive and they did not speak my language. if i had known that my work time would be varied like this, i would have asked more wage. i cannot make a living with this salary. i wonder this kind of situation is normal for nursing job? this is my first job as a nurse, so i don't know if i should be patient in this situation. any advice will be appreciated. thank you. maki

Same here too. There are some classmates who has a mother working as a nurse and had a connection in the LTC and they started working as a new grads before getting their license. Some were working as CNA and got hired as LVN in the same facility. I think I should get a CNA certificate to work in LTC to look for a position as LVN, but I don't know how long I have to work as CNA. I really want to start working as LVN. Everytime I check new job openings on the internet, I got depressed because there is no job opening for new grads. Some facilities even mention like "No New Grads Please!!"... My friend who works at LTC told me that most LTC do not put ad on the internet. So, maybe you can call each facility for any opennings.

I just finished the 1st level (3.5 month) of the LVN program last week and noticed that 35 out of 60 students were dropped. Moreover, I found out that there is about only 10 students made it to the last level (level 4) of the program and other about 50 students who could not make it to the last level were either repeating the 2, 3rd levels, or gave up. This school enters as many as students in the beginning even if there is no enough student tables and gives us all the book on the first day of the program and have us to sign the receipts. So we owe for books already on the first day even if the cancellation date with no penalty fee is 1 week later. When I talked with the representative before enter the program, she said to me that their pass rate for NCLEX is 100%. However, I found out that the test was actually taken by only 10 students. We have an exam every week and whoever cannot get 75% of the total score for the 2nd time will be dropped automatically. If you fail for one time, you have to get 75% for the make up test. However, If you fail for a new test again, then you cannot continue the program and wait for the next semester to redo the level. I think school usually accumulates all the score and divided to get the final % for each student at the end of the semester and decide to drop students, not the middle of the semester. Also, since the make up test will be held on the same week of another test, the students have to study for 2 different materials in a week, which makes even harder for the students. I contacted different school yesterday and they said they will consider my transfer after checking my grade and school curriculum. The pass rate for NCLEX for this school is 75%, but they hold 28 to the last level out of 30 students. Could you please give me advice on this? Should I just stay for the current program even if there is high drop rate? or should I just transfer the different school? makidesuu:(
