Thank you for talking to your niece. I will be working at the Trident Medical Center (the big one I think). The reason we were looking at West Ashley is that my fiance will be moving down in the next few months and will probably be working at either MUSC or RSF. However, we have looked at a few houses in the Summerville area and they are very large and reasonably priced. Thanks again for the input and let me know if you have any further information.

I just finished nursing school a few weeks ago. The PDA helped out as some clinical instructors would allow us to look our drugs up on it instead of making drug cards. Also, during my last semester the teachers began utilizing Camtasia (sp?) which is basically a program where the instructors are able to record their lectures to a coresponding powerpoint and we had to watch and listen to the lectures at home and class time was used more for answering questions and working case studies. Anyway, if your program uses the camtasia then the ipod option is great as I was able to download the audio portion of lectures and listen in the car, while running, etc.

Recently hired at Trident Medical Center in Charleston and have several questions. First, I will need to live in an apartment for the first 2-4 months when I move down there...any suggestions on good appartment locations in the Summerville area (near Trident). Secondly, my girlfriend will be moving down in several months and I would like advice on good locations to look for a house. We are interested in West Ashley at the moment but would like to hear what locals have to say. Thank you for your responses in advance.

Hi, I was recently hired into "Critical Care Nurse Residency" at Trident Medical Center in Charleston. Basically this is a job in the ICU (28 bed all inclusive, meaning no differential for SICU, MICU, etc.) It is a 16 week orientation for the program. Base pay is $22.75 shift diffs are evening 2, nights 3, and weekends 3 I think. Hope this helps with basic info as to what to expect. Let me know if you have more questions.
