Well earthmama.....I am a little confused! I think I got in LOL!!!! I did not get an acceptance letter or email but I did get an email from the Frontier IT department at 5:55pm "welcoming" me to Frontier and giving me my school email address. I can't believe that I got in Fingers crossed you :)

Frontier Bridge Class 126
Well the week has come and gone with no answer yet! I am so inpatient and ready to know. The more time that passes it seems like the more self-doubt I am having (with really no merit). Maybe next week will bring good news :)

Frontier Bridge Class 126
LoveANurse09.....so sorry to hear that. Earthmama is right though, there are other options. My backup plan if I don't get in is Chamberlain to finish my BSN (takes about 12 months) then either U of Cincinnati (requires l&d exp) or U of Philadelphia (prefers l&d but will accept maternal health volunteerism). May I ask, did they notify you via email that you did not meet the minimum requirements? Earthmama3......when I talked to one of the employees the first week of March they said all applications submitted by 02/10 deadline had been reviewed by the admissions committee and scored. They also said they excepted to be able to notify us pretty soon however the other day the fb page said 6-8 weeks before frontier bound. I sure hope it is sooner rather than later. I too am stalking email, fb and this thread to see if anyone has been notified. Going to get a cramp from keeping my fingers and toes crossed LOL!.

Frontier Bridge Class 126
earthmama3......sending good thoughts your way too! Hopefully we will be able to meet at Frontier Bound in June. I love that you are willing to push against the norm in your city and try to bring midwifery to the forefront of care for well woman care. It is really the opposite in Michigan. Here, midwives rule the hospitals. Almost every major hospital in metro-detroit has turned their L&D units into "birthing centers" and have midwives give the majority of care with ObGyn stepping in if patient requests or complications arise. The only bad thing about that is that all of our midwifery care is given in a hospital setting leading to a more medicalized approach therefore there are few, if any, freestanding birthing centers in Michigan. I fear if more CNMs don't push to create free-standing birth centers, there will eventually be little difference between an ObGyn and a CNM (except pay and surgical abilities). LoveANurse09.....good luck and you better hurry to get your application in! Hopefully we will be meeting at Frontier Bound. The one thing I love about Frontier compared to other schools is the ability to create friendships that can translate into professional relationships. Good luck to you!

Frontier Bridge Class 126
Hi earthmama3! I don't know anyone else who applied. My friend just graduated from the program 6 months ago and was very pleased with her experience at Frontier. Rumor is that they accept about 25-30 applicants. I stalk the Frontier facebook page and at first when I saw that the deadline was extended from feb. 10th to mar. 14th I thought whewww....low number of applicants so good probability I get in. However my then overly analytical mind started thinking maybe there weren't enough candidates who they thought were good enough. Who knows!!! I did call the school and ask very passively what was going on but didn't really get an answer. I did however mention that the blogs say that accepted individuals usually get notified 6-8 weeks before frontier bound. I was told that they think it will be much sooner because all applications that have been submitted thus far have been scored. They said the last class was told 11 weeks before frontier bound. Fingers crossed we hear sooner rather than later! The wait is killing me :) Where are you from? I am in Michigan. Do you know anybody else who applied? What sort of experience do you have? I have been a RN in the ER for 8 years. Hard to get in to l&d in michigan without experience. But this has always been my dream so I figured I better get busy making it come true!! Sending positive thoughts your way!
