This is a little old but I'll give you the info on the program so far. Program is going good. Class schedules are on 8 week blocks, 2 blocks per level. I'm finishing up my level 1 this eight weeks. I had to put off my original start date for personal reasons. My schedule this 8 weeks is Monday 0800-1100, Tue off, Wed clinical 0630-1900, Thur 0730-1300, Fri off. It was a little different last eight weeks. We started with 40 students, we're down to 35 already in eight weeks. 2 for academic the other three for medical reasons.

I agree, I tended to find micro easier than my other courses. There was definately a lot of material but it's not difficult stuff. Just a lot of it.

No, I applied for the July start the spring start is already full. No, an interview is not required but I wanted to go there and see what my chances were.

Actually they specifically want to know if you work in the medical field now or have internships. Don't know if it helps at all. You can also look at Chamberlain College of Nursing. Ironically I interviewed there on Thursday and spent $85 for the application and testing fee as a backup in case I didn't get in. I should have waited a day. They told me there current GPA for new students is around 3.2-3.3. Once you're accepted to the school your in the nursing program. No second application. It's the same price as GCU and they do have there accreditation. The impression I received from the adviser at Chamberlain was that they accept on first come basis and I'd have no problem getting in. You may want to try there.

Actually I put all of my eggs in one basket on this one. I moved to AZ from Providence RI just because of this program. I didn't bother with ASU or the CC's around here due to high GPA requirements and waitlists. If I didn't get in here I would have needed to take more classes to apply to other programs as GCU doesn't require certain classes that almost all other schools do. In particular GCU doesn't require a 2nd composition course anymore although I did take that. No Developmental Pysch required, no sociology. All classes here are 8 weeks now so I took A+P I II in one semester. Bio 101 and 102 in one semester etc. It's brutal but you finish quicker. The A+P labs use cadaviers which is very beneficial. Classes are not particulary difficult in my opinion just a ton of information to learn in 8 weeks. If you have a strong GPA and good NET scores you should stand a good chance at GCU. Are you in AZ now?

Hi Lola, I just received my phone call today from my adviser at GCU. I was accepted into the May 2010 fast track program. My Science GPA is 3.4 and Pre-req GPA is 3.591. The fast track program requires that all pre-reqs be completed before starting the nursing program. I know they take 50 applicants for the Sept and Jan starts I don't know about the May start. If there is anything else I can answer outside of the actual program, since I haven't started it, let me know.

I am in the program at GCU, although I am still finishing my prereqs. GCU is not a diploma mill school, if fact from everyone I've talked to outside of the school, their nursing program is highly regarded. I have some issues with the school itself but I believe you'd find that with any school. I too am using VA benefits, and GCU is finally starting to get their act together with the VA system, a few hiccups here and there but not bad. GCU is accredited by both the state and the CCNE. I can't attest to Chamberlains programs, although when I visited the school I got a distinct diploma mill feeling from them. Edit, forgot to add in both schools issue the BSN. GCU's credit are fully transferable to any US school too.
