  1. I agree. Unless something gets done fast, you will find yourself overloaded and very unhappy. I have seen the same thing happen to a friend of mine in the past. She was expected to just jump in and know the job without any real formal training. She was very unhappy and left.
  2. I don't like needles, don't like scapels or watching surgery, but it's a part of nursing. When I did my clinicals I watched the surgeon perform a total hip replacement. Yes, it turned my stomach, but it was really something to watch the surgeon at work. I also was in the ED during a clinical and a man came in with a metal rod through his right arm. I watched the physician and nurses remove the rod and stitch him up. It's not a pretty sight, but it's again, part of nursing. I won't watch the nurse take blood from me. Since I have terrible veins I tell them to use the butterfly needle and use my hand. Saves me from a lot of sticks and saves the nurse the trouble of trying in another place to get blood.
  3. What I love about nursing is: The World War 2 veteran who loves to see this nurse smile and loves it when she has the time to talk to him about his glory days in the service. Makes me feel like I am doing my part in remembering him and his life as he tells it so it won't be forgotten long after he has left this earth behind.
