I'm kind confused about fees. I was told that we don't have to worry about registering for any classes on wise because that would be taken care of on the day of orientation. On a one on one basis. But fees are due tomorrow by 7 P.M. But It shows on wise, that I don't have any fees due, because I'm not registered for any classes as of yet. Could someone clarify this for me. What really is the proper protocol. Do we really register for classes on orientation day? When do pay our fees? I didn't see anything about registering for classes in the orientation packet....

I don't have any kids as of yet, and I don't plan on working during the first semester. I just found out that my financial aid went through, hopefully it will cover all of the tuition. Plus, all of the extras (the list of mandatory supplies :/ ) . After the first semester is over, I'll see how well I handle the workload. If I think I can manage a job, I'll work as a nurse tech during my second semester. I didn't know that the school offered CPR classes...I'll have to look into that. I was planning on getting cpr certified at the local YMCA. I wonder if it would be cheaper to get certified at school. As for the background check, please let us know what you've discovered Liz. I'm guessing we have to do it on our own. Where are you guys getting vaccinated? I would prefer to go some place where it isn't too pricey, since I'm on a budget. Do all hospitals provide vaccinations, or do you have to go to a clinic?

$6 is a lot cheaper then Wal-mart. The prices for the top and bottoms varied from 12 to 16 dollars if I remember correctly. I paid around 30 dollars for white scrubs I bought there a few months ago. I also know that their is a uniform store at the University Mall in Tampa, but I've never checked out their prices. So the scrubs aren't purchased at the bookstore? As long as I've been going to PHCC, I've never seen anyone in the nursing program. So I have no idea what their uniform looks like. I spend a lot of time in the library, and can't recall anyone ever wearing scrubs. You would think I would of saw a nursing study group or two. Maybe they just weren't wearing their uniforms....

7 months for the bridge? Doesn't that basically equal one school year? So that's one year for for LPN program and one year for the bridge program. Totaling two school years, just like the RN program.

Hey Liz. Don't fret too much about financial aid. I'm in the same boat as you. I had to write an appeal for my financial aid, and it still hasn't been approved. But where their is a will, there is a way. I'll see you at the NPR campus with or without financial aid. . :)

Thank You for your kind words Angel, that's very sweet of you to say. I agree that it is somewhat of an accomplishment. Because their are many that weren't accepted. I also know what it feels like not to get into any program. It can be heart breaking. I actually transferred to PHCC from USF. I had tried to get into the USF program for several years, I also applied to HCC, and a few other schools. I even almost resorted to going to South University at one point, but I had some sense knocked into me when I was told their tuition. I suppose I should feel fortunate to get into a program at all. I'll be attending the New Port Richey Campus. Thanks again.

I have a couple silly questions, which hopefully someone can answer. I tried asking a girl at the front desk at student services my questions, but she said that they would be explaining all of that at the orientation. Which basically meant she had no clue. I was wondering when and how are you suppose to register for classes, if you were excepted into a program? After orientation, are the classes automatically assigned? I'm registered for courses that aren't part of the graduate nursing program, I'm guessing I should go onto wise and drop them. I also was wondering if anyone knew anything about the bridge program at PHCC. I tried to find more information about it on the school's website, but didn't find the answers I was seeking. Is the bridge program hard to get into? What are the requirements for the bridge program? Is the bridge program limited access like many of other programs offered at PHCC? Hey guys. I got into the LPN program, but not the RN program. :/ It's kind of a bitter sweet feeling. I wanted to be accepted into the RN program so badly, but with my reading scores in the high seventies, what happened was inevitable. Well congratulations to all that were excepted into a program. For the ones that weren't, have faith and don't give up. This wasn't my first time applying, perseverance is key.

I was told that they don't offer the pn program at the east campus bearhugs1981 . Did you mean you have a choice between the north and west campus? I was also told at student services that you couldn't apply to more than one campus. I tried to apply for the rn program at the dade city campus and the new port richey campus, but they only allowed me to submit one application.

CONGRATULATIONS FOREVER29 AND DIANAD54!!! That's awesome news. Would you guys mind telling me your net scores and prereq. GPA? I haven't recieved any letters yet, I hope that doesn't mean I didn't get in. I'm thinking they send out the acceptance letters first...I hope that isn't the case.

I just checked wise and my major hasn't changed. I hope that doesn't mean I didn't get in. I wonder if we can call or e-mail to find out the status of our applications... I'm so nervous, I practically bit off all of my fingernails.

Hello dianad54. From my understanding, it takes them a while to go over all of the applications. I was told by student services to expect the letters in the middle of June. But I was told to expect the letters sooner then that, by a friend that applied in a previous semester. In regaurds to the reading net score. I received that infornation from a PHCC advisor through e-mail. To quote the advisor exactly, she stated " The RN net score that is considered is the "reading" along with the gpa for prerequisites.The math, reading and writing scores are used in PN program." This is highly disappointing in my situation, because I didn't do too hot on the reading portion of the exam. I know that their looking for scores in the high eighties... But it sounds like you have a great chance of getting in. Best of luck to you, I hope you get in for this fall semester.

I've never heard of the "nat" until today. So I googled nat and I believe you are referring to the nursing amplitude test. If that is the case, here are a couple of sources to help you study: http://www.personality-and-aptitude-career-tests.com/nursing-career.html http://abaniko.blogspot.com/2006/04/nursing-aptitude-test_23.html But like I said before, make sure your school even considers that portion of the test, when evaluating their nursing student applicants. Just because the school has you take all sections of a test, doesn't mean that all sections weigh equally. I had to take all the sections of the NET (including science), but my school only looks at the scores of two sections of the test. So make sure that your school will even recognize your NAT science score. Because if they don't, that just gives you more time to study for the sections that are recognized.

I would first check to see if your school even considers the science portion of the net. I'm assuming you are referring to the 15 or so multiple choice questions related to biology and anatomy. From doing research on several nursing schools, I've noticed that none of the schools I've researched even consider that part of the exam. The current school I''m at, has their students take the net in its entirety but only look at the reading comprehension and math scores.

I also am awaiting letters from PHCC. I applied to both the RN and LPN for West campus. Hopefully I'll be getting a "big" envelope for at least one of the programs. I'm incredibly nervous, so nervous, I almost don't want to know if I got accepted. The people in the career center weren't very uplifting, after I took the net. After receiving my scores, I asked if my scores were competitive. I received a 76 on the reading comprehension (those questions were like riddles ), and I was told they were looking for scores in the high eighties. I felt so defeated, and discouraged when I heard this. My overall net average is a 85. I was also told that RN nursing board doesn't consider the net math scores of new applicants, which only hurts my chances more. Does anyone know if they look at the NET score average, when reviewing lpn applicants, or do they look at separate scores? If I'm not mistaken, the only criteria needed for the lpn program are net scores... I'll be devastated if I don't get into one of the programs. Liz, what did you mean when you said "I doubt I will be getting in this go around since it is my first time applying". Does PHCC give priority to people that have applied before?...

I took the NET test a few months ago. In anticipation for the exam I purchased the NET Study Guide from my schools bookstore for a whopping $30 dollars. I took the practice tests found at the end of the book several times. I felt pretty prepared (Well for the math, anyway). But when it came down to actually taking the NET, their was a bunch of sections on the exam I hadn't prepared for. Such as the science, and an English portion of the exam. I especially had a hard time with this particular "English" portion of the exam. If I can remember correctly, the questions went some thing like An accountant becomes A) Accountant B) Accountants C) Accountant's and etc. Their were about 15 or so questions in this section. I'm scheduled to retake the NET again, and still have no clue what their wanting. What exactly is the question asking? Did anyone else have this on their NET? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?! If you do you know, please clue me in. This wasn't covered in the study guide...
