Schools in the Memphis area
Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm going to get some core classes out of the way at Southwest then transfer to University of Memphis. UT I would have to already have a Bachelor's Degree Baptist I would have to have health insurance to be a student. I work part time right now and it's not an option till I'm married. I've heard some bad things about Southwest's nursing program, so I think I'm going to try to avoid it. Looks like its UM. Thanks everyone!

New student, need an idea...
Thanks for the info. PT requires a bachelor's degree in biology then 3 years of PT school. The curriculum is laid out already so there is no going at your own pace. The second semester is 36 hours. They told me if I worked while going thru those 3 years of school then I would fail. I can't afford to go 3 years without working, sorry!

New student, need an idea...
Thanks for the info. I was in the process of getting my Bachelor's degree in Biology. I have about another 2 years before I'm done with that, then the PT program is 3 years. The second semester is 36 hrs. The school I was looking at, also the only one in my area, tells you not to work at all during the PT program or you will fail. Thanks for the encouragment. I really want to go into a health field. I'm leaning towards ped's or ortho. I'm just wondering what type of experience I would get while I'm in school. Thanks

Schools in the Memphis area
I'm getting ready to start nursing school and I wanted some info about the nursing schools in the Memphis area. Let me know what school(s) you went to and what you thought of them. I'm not sure where to go. Also, I work a part time job at night that is very flexible, would this be an issue while attending school? Thanks!

New student, need an idea...
I'm thinking about starting nursing school in the fall. I was going to be a physical therapist, but I feel like by the time I'm done with school I will have missed half my life. Just wondering what types of things I can expect while I'm going through nursing school. Will I get to work in a lot of different specialties? I'm totally clueless, I don't know anyone who is a nurse and could use all the info you can give me. Thanks!

Need help with a decision.
I just decided I wanted to go into nursing. I really wanted to be a physical therapist, but I'm already 25 and I would be 30 before I would be finished with all the schooling required. I'm trying to decided what field of nursing would be best for me. I don't think I would like working with adults very well. I currently coach gymnastics as I am working through school. I live in Memphis and we have St. Jude's here. I think I would prefer to work in that type of setting. My family tells me that I don't have the ability to panic and I think I just interact better with children. Anybody with any input or other nursing specialties, please let me know. Thanks!!
