  1. Could you please confirm that I need to send only the first page of the REQUEST FOR REAPPLY/REPEAT EXAMINATION application? I'm not with disabilities, need no any special accommodation and so on.
  2. In the REQUEST FOR REAPPLY/REPEAT EXAMINATION form, there's the NURSING PROGRAM VERIFICATION section. I'm not sure what it is about. (I'm a foreign trained nurse, in Ukraine now). "This form is to be completed by the nursing program Dean or Director or their designee if accommodation(s) to testing procedures were granted to this candidate during their nursing program. Original submission of this form is optional. However, if this form is not used, all of the information requested must be provided on original letterhead stationery of the nursing program." "Describe the format of examinations administered (e.g., written multiple-choice, essay, oral, etc.) and the accommodation(s) provided to the above candidate for these examinations during their nursing program:" Is this section about my local exam? Also I'm not sure why they ask about accommodation(s).
  3. I just tool these courses in my country, Ukraine, during 4 months, but CABoN has rejected them. Here's their letter: Based on the additional documents sent by your school for completion of obstetric and psychiatric nursing, you are still deficient and do not meet California requirements in obstetric and psychiatric nursing. In order to meet this requirements, it will be necessary for you to make up this course(s), both theory and clinical practice, in an accredited school of professional nursing in CALIFORNIA. (A list of accredited schools in California was enclosed previously).
  4. I'm in Ukraine (RN here). Upon CA BoN request I need to make up Obstetric and Psychiatric nursing courses in California. I found a school there where I can take them during a year. Is it going to be a student visa?
  5. Thanks, suzanne4. Which boards can you recommend then? I've heard many positive feedback about New York.
  6. Many thanks for your answer. See, for some reasons. they capitalized CALIFORNIA. I can't believe they do not allow taking them in my home country. Did anybody make up obstetric and psychiatric nursing courses in their home county and CABoN was satisfied with them?
  7. I received this letter from CA BoN: Based on the additional documents sent by your school for completion of obstetric and psychiatric nursing, you are still deficient and do not meet California requirements in obstetric and psychiatric nursing. In order to meet this requirements, it will be necessary for you to make up this course(s), both theory and clinical practice, in an accredited school of professional nursing in CALIFORNIA. (A list of accredited schools in California was enclosed previously). Is it possible to enroll is a nursing program in California just to make up these courses? Is it going to be a student visa for it? I'm in Ukraine now.
  8. Suzanne, thanks for your answer. But I'm in Ukraine. Outside the US. I'm applying to CA from here.
  9. I’m about to contact the local nursing school in Ukraine regarding the Obstetric and Psychiatric courses requested by CA BoN after reviewing my application. So I have 2 questions: 1) What kind of a paper should the local school provide at the end of my study of Obstetric and Psychiatric? Should it be a specific certificate or just a paper? Any requirements for the paper? 2) Is it possible to make up these courses online in a CA school? Thanks for your help.
  10. If considering MEDICAL NURSING, apart from SURGICAL NURSING, PEDIATRIC NURSING etc. (as in the Breakdown form), the following courses are subdivisions of Medical Nursing? Fundamentals, Dermatology, Therapy, Genecology, Neurology, Infections, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, family nursing.
  11. I.e. how to meets California's educational requirements?
  12. Guys, but in the Application they tell that Your education must meet the requirements for California licensure. If any deficiencies are identified, you must complete an approved course(s) prior to being found eligible for the examination. APPLICANTS EDUCATED OUTSIDE THE U.S. http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/applicants/exam-app.pdf Which from my understanding means the CA Board should explain what needs to be done, i.e. courses or hours, to be eligible for the examination. But not just general statement: you're not qualified.
  13. Hey guys, These hours my school sent to CA Board in the BREAKDOWN form of the Application. But they were not enough: ... the nurse program you completed... does not meet the requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in California. ********************************* THEORY Hours *** PRACTICE Hours ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY 157 *** 86 MICROBIOLOGY 36 *** 18 MEDICAL NURSING 182 *** 196 SURGICAL NURSING 113 *** 130 OBSTETRIC NURSING 41 *** 40 PEDIATRIC NURSING 111 *** 132 PSYCHIATRIC NURSING 30 *** 24 Please share the hours you already have OR plan to have after graduation. Many thanks. PS: Parent thread of my case: https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/california-board-nursing-you-do-not-meet-requirements-licensure-why-318103-2.html
  14. Thanks, everybody, for your great and detailed answers. Cannot sleep already for many nights trying to understand what to do. As I just found out, my school sent these hours in the BREAKDOWN OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR INTERNATIONAL NURSING PROGRAMS. Do you think these hoursare really not enough to meet educational requirements of the California Board? ********************************* THEORY Hours *** PRACTICE Hours ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY 157 *** 86 MICROBIOLOGY 36 *** 18 MEDICAL NURSING 182 *** 196 SURGICAL NURSING 113 *** 130 OBSTETRIC NURSING 41 *** 40 PEDIATRIC NURSING 111 *** 132 PSYCHIATRIC NURSING 30 *** 24 Please those who applied to Ca Board and passed, share your hours you have in the BREAKDOWN form or in your diploma. Thanks so much. PS Suzanne, I know that CA for initial licensure is not a bad of roses and am aware of the retrogression issue.
  15. Very good point, Silverdragon. Thanks. I'm trying to understand which educational program is going to sutisfy CABoN. Maybe I can take missed courses? As you know, there's plenty of time between NY-GC-Endorsement.
  16. Hi Suzanne4, Many thanks for your very detailed answer. Much appreciated. I checked with my friends who already in States. They passed via NYBoN with the same Ukrainian nursing educational background I have. I've checked the New York Board. It seems like they allow my program to be eligible for RN: "To meet the professional education requirement for licensure as a registered professional nurse, you must present satisfactory evidence of having received at least a two-year degree or diploma from a program in general professional nursing that is acceptable to the Department. To be acceptable to the Department, the program must be either: registered as licensure qualifying by the New York State Education Department; or approved by the licensing authority or appropriate governmental agency in the jurisdiction where the school is located as preparation for practice as a registered professional nurse. NY also requires to take the Infection Control and Child Abuse courses. So I'm planning to take the courses, and send application to NY and CGFNS for NY (credential evaluation). Guys, it this sounds as a reasonable way to go for you? What you say?
  17. Thanks, guys, for your answers. You rock! Maybe I should apply to NY? And then endorse to CA? I've read a lot about NY and I know some nurses from Ukraine got quilified throught the NY Board. They just took a few courses online. What you think?
  18. Hi beautiful people, I applied to CaBoN about 2 months ago from Ukraine. I hold a local license here. Just received this mail from California Board of Nursing: “The Board of Registered Nursing has completed the evaluation of your application. Based on the documents that were submitted, it has been determined that the vocational nurse program you completed in your country does not meet the requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in California. When you have completed an approved Registered Nurse program, you will need to reapply to our Board”. Unfortunately from this mail I don’t understand which exactly courses (or hours) I should pass in order to be qualified. Why they do not tell me that? I sent them an email about 10 days already and I got no reply so far. (I'm aware of their strict communication policy though). What do you think appropriate to do in this situation? I want to live and work in California. Many thanks for your help.
  19. Maybe she should send me a certified check to Ukraine and so I could submit all documents together?
  20. Hi, I'm about to send my application pack for Licensure by Examination from my nursing school here in Ukraine to California Board of Reg. Nursing. In the application they state that I have to "Submit the correct TOTAL FEE with your application". So I asked my friend in CA to pay by check what she kindly did but after 2 months they did not know what to do and there were no additional documents enclosed to the payment now they will send her again her check back. My question is how to send the money along with application? Or I just should send my application first and then my friend will re-send the check? Thanks for your help.
