A new phone prank
I'm really not that bad. I used the phone that we only use to make appointments and such. When people call us they get transferred to our carry-on phones and not to that one. So it really stayed in-house. No worries there.

A new phone prank
Hi all, A week ago I had the nightshift again, and it was very quiet. Yes, afterwards I dare to use "the word". :chuckle But when my nights are quiet I think off new ways to pull a prank on my colleagues. And this one included Tegaderm. Just to be clear, I work in a non-American (Belgian) hospital so it might have a different name for you guys. But it's the transparent foil you use to stick the bandages to a patient. Otherwis just Google it. :wink2: Anyway, the beauty with that stuff is that, if you use it correctly, you don't even see it. So what I did was stick a layer of the stuff on the phone horn. To be clear, on the part where you put your ear. Once I got out all the airbubbles and cleanly cut off the sides you didn't see the foil at all. To be sure I put on a second layer so that you still heared something, but not a lot. And the trap was set. I came on that night and I asked my colleagues if they had any phone problems. The beauty was that noone noticed that the horn was taped off with the foil. The had fiddled with the volume buttons, thay had asked people on the other side of the line to speak up, but they never noticed the foil. They even almost brought the phone to the technical dept. to get it fixed. You can imagine that I was so happy with this result! Might do it again in a couple off months.

English article about obesity
Thanks everyone for your tips. My school does have databanks for articles, but they´re all in Dutch. That´s why I need an English Databank. Cheers

Wanna quit because of patients attitude?
Luckely I find out that my hospital is not the only place in the world where patients are like this. And no I`m actually not that surprised that patients behave like this, but what happened to common decensy? I also do agree with the replies that people are taking advantage of the healthcare system. But that is also a repsonsibility of the doctor and professors. For example: I also have urological patients on the ward and the professor of urology is a first class #?!@. The patienst love him because he promisses lots of empty promisses, and then we can explain why we cannot do the things he promissed. It´s even that bad that my colleagues can tell what things are "thought up" by the prof. and which things are decided by the doctors. And there is no reasoning with him because of his ego. But all in all I still love my job, it´s just too bad that some people try to make me think otherwise.

Wanna quit because of patients attitude?
Hi everyone, I just want to discuss the fact that I think the patients attitude is getting worse and worse. Sometimes it´s even that bad that I seriously think about quitting my job as an RN. I do have to tell that I work in a big hospital in Belgium, so I have no idea how it is in the States, but my opinion is that, since I graduated six years ago, the attitude of patients is getting worse. Some patients think that they entered the Hilton or Four Seasons once they step through the front door and start demanding things from us. And you know, asking it is one thing, but most of them just SAY it. No please or thank you. Is that sooooo hard to do? It really irritates the crap out of me. And what is it with the fact that other people, who have no nursing experience, start telling us how to do our job. And with other people I´m not only talking about patients, but also about visitors. Please, I studied for four years so I really do know what I´m talking about. And I do know what has to be done. I´m not telling the doctor how to operate, so why is someone with no experience and insight telling me how to do my job? I might really sound negative and all, and I know that nursing has a lot of upsides too, but I think that it´s something that doesn´t get better anymore. Am I the only one that thinks like this or are there other people who have problems with the patients´ attitude? Thanks for reading! Bye bye, Vincent

Most Patients during a shift?
I´m so jealous of you people. I work on a medical/surgical ward in a Belgian University hospital where, during night shifts, I have to take care of 29 patients. All by myself. It´s insane, but they don´t want to spent money on more night nurses so there you go, accidents waiting to happen. Bye bye, Vincent
