  1. Thank you for your reply-I had no idea that one could work on call with so much flexibility. Something like that would be great, so I'm going to check into the local hospitals around me. (there are lots). I'm really anxious to get some experience, and I do think it will really benefit me when I get my RN.
  2. hello everyone. This is only my second post on this site, so I apologize if it is in the wrong section and a little long. I have a question about criminal background checks for clinicals. I'm in maryland, and it is my understanding that a person will only be ineligible for liscensure if they are actually convicted of a crime. My question is, would a hospital deny you admission to clinicals/a job because of a charge on your record that the state declined to prosecute? A little background: I was assaulted in a nightclub, and when i called the police, they were pretty useless, would not arrest the other person or help in any way. They told me that I had to go to the states attorney to file the charges myself. however, the next day I decided not to attempt to file the charges and just forget it-I'm busy with school and I didn't think it would do much good anyway. Little did I know the police had recommended to the other person (a large man, while I am a 100 pound woman) to file charges against me, even though he attacked me and injured me, while suffering no injuries of his own. Needless to say I went through hell from the moment I received the summons in the mail to stand trial for a second degree assault to the moment I went to court. When I went, the charges were dropped (the actual term is that state entered a nole prosequi). Sorry this has been long winded, I just wanted to give background so everyone knows I'm not a felon (LOL)...but, will a non-prosecuted second degree assault charge on my record affect my future nursing career in any way?
  3. hello everyone. I'm am doing my prerequisites right now to a bachelors degree nursing program. I'm thinking about getting my cna certification over the summer so I can get some experience in the field. My question for you guys is, are hospitals/long term care facilities generally good with working around students schedules? I am a full time student, so would I be able to work as a cna part time or are cna's usually required to work full time? I know every area is probably different, I'm in maryland if that helps any. Thanks!
