Apollo College / Accredited schools
I am looking into nursing schools and wondered if anyone has any experience with Apollo College or knows anything about them. I am a little skeptical about them for some reason. They are "provisionally approved" in the state of NV where I'm at which means that I could get a license in NV according to the board but it would be up to other states if they accept that or not. They have only been here in NV for about a year and a half but I guess they had a graduating class already which is a requirement to fully approved but I don't know about the pass rate which needs to be 80%. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I called a couple of other states that I may eventually relocate to and they said as long as the school I go to is approved by my state that I can get licensed in the other states.

Online RN degree?
Thanks for the encouragement chaoticdreams33! I'm afraid it will take some sacrafice in some other areas. I will probably have to be working full time with two kids (and a husband) so that's the reason for wanting the online thing so much. I wish I had made the decision to go down this path earlier but live and learn I guess. Oh and we almost did move to Texas a year or two ago... oh well.

HUGE sign-on bonuses!!!
All of this is good information. I think that just about every hospital in my area offers a sign-on bonus (they're so hard up for nurses). Some of the bonuses are for a commitment of one to three years with them but I will be skeptical and do some investigation into them before considering working with them.

HUGE sign-on bonuses!!!
I am new to the field of nursing (actually I'm just getting ready to apply for an RN program) but I'm a little worried about why all of these companies offer such big sign-on bonuses and some with a commitment to stay with them for a certain amount of years. I saw a job posting for a sign-on bonus of $30,000 the other day. Is it that being a nurse is just so stressful that people can't handle it and they leave? Or is it that the field is just so understaffed and competitive that nurses bounce from one place to another so they're trying to get them to make a commitment? Does anyone have any perspective on this?

Online RN degree?
Thanks chaoticdreams33. I have searched almost every nursing school site out there and there is just not an online RN program. I do realize there's a lot of lab and clinical work but the lecture portion is not even offered online. Unfortunately where I live there is an extremely high demand for nurses and a very limited amount of resourses as far as schools are concerned (thus part of the reason for the high demand I guess). I have been looking into the program at the local community college but it is a very difficult program to get into so I'll be praying that I can get in. It's just frustrating that when you decide to make a career move it has to be so difficult to even begin your learning process for that move.

Online RN degree?
Thanks for that info Tweety. I have seen many people stating that they are earning their BSN online and that they do go to a lab and complete the clinical side (which I'm sure I could arrange) but there is not much info about getting your RN online. Does anyone else know of an online school where you can do that?

Online RN degree?
I am just considering entering into the nursing field and with two small children I need to get my degree onlin. Does anyone know of an online RN degree program? Also, I see all of the classifieds for RN's that graduated from an "accredited" nursing program, how do I know if the online program is from an accredited school?
