Anyone attend Mount Mary/Columbia College School of Nursing?
hi luvbug080688, i am currently applying at mmc/ccon but just wanted a little bit of advice. just wondering if i should complete another semester of pre reqs before i apply to nursing school. i know mmc states that they accept students first who have completed majority of there classes at the college. i have to take a&p 2, biology, and organic chemistry, but i don't want it to be to much. although many just begin the program w/out any science classes being completed. any insight you have will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

MATC petition process for Jan 09 students
Hi marisao13- When I was at Moraine Park they had a 2-3 yr wait list, I got offered a job down at Children's Hospital, so I moved to take that. And have been completing my pre-reqs for the nursing program most techs have a petition process in milwaukee, so I think I'm heading the BSN route.

MATC petition process for Jan 09 students
Thanks Craig, I really appreciate all the advice your giving me. I hope life span psych won't stress me out to much. Your right I guess MATC is exactly what you get for a cheap education. I really was not trying to pursue a bachelors degree right away. I was hoping to go the associate degree way then land a job that will pay for me to continue. Plus a straight four years just seems like a long time, maybe I should just get it done and over with. Another thing is I do hear that Cardinal Stritch is very expensive for an associate degree, so I would be better off getting my bachelors right away in terms of money. But if I do decide to get my bachelors right away, I would probably have to take another semester at MATC to complete A&P2, Economics, and maybe Biochem. Cardinal Stritch does not have bio for one of there classes, instead they have microbio, which is what I am taking in the spring. I guess I really need to think about the whole bachelor degree thing right away. Lanya

I agree, studying hard is the main key to success in this class. I know nothing about the instructor for my class, just hope that his teaching style is not to hard. But I am ready to buckle down for a somewhat hard semester, A&P1, micro, and psych for human life span development (taking online). Every free moment will be used to study. Good Luck to you!!!:reef:

MATC petition process for Jan 09 students
Sorry to hear about all the trouble you have went through. Good thing is your almost done!!! I think the school in general is very unorganized. I am actually finishing up the Medical Assistant program there, and my clinicals were suppose to start at the end of October. But ofcourse the instructor was not able to place half of us because she said it was a bad semester. So in the end I had to call around and find my own place to start clinicals, but I paid all that money for me to do the job myself, and start 2 weeks late. What a joke! I just pray that I get into Cardinal Stritch so I can be done with MATC for good.

Thank you, I will really take your advice and not memorize the material like most would do. Instead I will try to understand the meaning of everything. I appreciate your input.

MATC petition process for Jan 09 students
I agree MATC petition process is just horrible. I am currently there finishing up a couple of pre reqs for the nursing program, and I to have heard a couple of different stories about the petition process. I just want to get into school and get it done. NO one has time to petition, then wait around every semester and pray that your accepted. So I am also looking into going to Cardinal Stritch. I will be applying for the Fall 09 semester, crossing my fingers that I get in. Just want to complete anatomy & physiology 1, micro, and psych for life-span human development so that the work load would not be to much in the beginning. Good luck to all who have suffered at MATC.

Undecided ADN or BSN
Thank you to the ones that responded to my post. I am going to stick out the four years and get my BSN. In regards to your question farmerjane, I guess waiting until I am completely done with school to have children is not that bad of an idea. But we want to be done with children by the time we are 30. If I wait unitl I am done with school he will be 29 and we would just be starting. Who knows we will figure it out, but thank you so much for the info.

Undecided ADN or BSN
I am in a tough situation, I want to begin school this fall but am not sure if I should just stick the four years out right now and get my BSN or be put on a waiting list for about 1-3 years at a technical school. I know that if I would go the techncial school route I would eventually go back for my BSN. So some say get it all out the way now for the BSN, but in about 2 1/2 years my fiancee and I plan on getting pregnant(we are getting married next month) and I want to still continue on with school. I don't want to stop for a semester or two then go back. More than likely I will be attending Alverno this fall. If anyone is in this situation or has been any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Alverno College Nursing Students Out There?
I am also considering attending Alverno College this fall. But I am very confused about going to a four year school or a technical college. I work with a couple of girls who go to Alverno, and they love it. They especially talk about how unique the grading system is. The tuition is on the high side, but there is no waiting list. All the technical schools in the milwaukee area all have at least a 1 to 2 year waiting list. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do it would be really appreciated.
