  1. I'll be 27 in 2013. Starting my pre-req's this fall and then hopefully starting my 4 year BSN program in the fall of 2009.
  2. oops, sorry about that fiona59. I wasn't knocking PN's either. You're work is just as important. She might have more options in the future and a better salary with the BScN, RN title, though.
  3. Hey Fiona59, Don't think that RPN is your only option. If you want to be an RN you can do it. Some colleges offer a 1 Year Pre-Nursing or Pre-Health Sciences course that will get you the math, bio, chem upgrades you need to apply to their 4 year BScN program. Sure it'll take longer but it may be worth it in the long run. That's what I'm doing! I didn't graduate with my senior level sciences either. Some pre-nursing programs are still open too if you're really eager and want to start in the Fall! Check out: www.ontariocolleges.ca . Good Luck!:nuke:
  4. yeah you shouldn't have a problem with the dmc they're always going to need good nurses(hope you find gunshot wounds interesting). alot of people commute across the border everyday. windsor/essex county isn't the worst. we do have great tourist spots and tecumseh and south windsor are fine places to live with established neighbourhoods and nice homes(stay away from the westside if you do decide to move). i just wish we didn't have to rely on the money we make off of drunk 19-year-old americans on the weekends. they love that they can get into our bars and stripclubs two years earlier than over there. and all these gross "massage palours" that are popping up, blagh! they have started calling windsor, "sin city of the north", for a reason. i'm not knocking the states because living across from detroit does have it's advantages. they have amazing shopping, great concert venues, an international airport that will fly you anywhere in the world and all the major national sports teams. we've got potential, too. we just need stronger leadership and a plan. there's a new border crossing solution on the horizon, though. it seems like a bright little spot in the city's future. hopefully, the new highway with all these greenspaces and tunnels they're considering building will help with the pollution and truck congestion so we can start improving sooner rather than later.
  5. ottawa is a really nice city. it feels smaller than it's one million residents, too. great culture, architecture, parks. the cost of living is a little more than the rest of ontario but it isn't nearly as high as a big city like toronto. plus our streets are safer. like a previous poster wrote, we're close to toronto, montreal and the states. très convenient! bilingualism is an asset when living in the capital but there are always courses being offered at the colleges or other schools that can help get you up to par. be warned though that because we are a northeastern city it gets pretty cold during the winter and we get tons of snow. kanata (a western suburb of the city) would probably be a good option for you if you're raising kids. there are a lot of new homes, schools and developing going on there in general. only 15-20 from the city! we also start work on a new light rail train system sometime in the next two years that will make everyone's comings and goings, around the city and outreaches, a lot easier and quicker. good luck with your search! :nuke: p.s. fenders, i'm from windsor and am going back this fall for school. i don't know if i'd stay after graduation, though, because of the economic problems. it seems like the city is falling apart now that the big 3 ( gm, ford's and chrylser's) are shutting down all their plants and out-sourcing the work to mexico. blurg!
