Oakland University 2nd degree Wait list
Thank you, blue1018! I am pretty much decided to go with OU. But only concern is the location. I heard their class sites are in Macomb and Warren, and I live in Novi. I wouldn't mind the distance so much if I did not have a kid. Do many students live near those sites?

Oakland University 2nd degree Wait list
Thank you, WayneStateKatie. It looks like there's no easy way to get to nursing school. I will go to the OU info session, so hopefully I will get a good information there. Thank you again!

Oakland University 2nd degree Wait list
Thank you guys. I have gone to the info session for Wayne and UofM, but haven't gone for OU yet. I liked Wayne because admission is based on GPA only which I can control. Also I thought 60% plus admission rate is quite high. I did not get a quite good information at UofM as far as the admission criteria goes. They said they will see everything from Pre-req GPA to essays, resume, but did not say which one was weighed most. >There is no "waitlist" anywhere for second degree programs, you either >get into a program or you don't.... If you meet their bottom equirement, I thought anybody is accepted in OU. Do they reject students if they have lower GPA? I am still working, so if I go with OU, I still can keep my job till I get in, but to apply for Wayne for '09, I have to quite my job to finish my pre-reqs. This is my dilenma. Because Wayne has a clear admission criteria, there's something I might be able to do. But with OU, I may have more chances to get in with less effort and money, but I will not know "when" I can start. I am already in mid 30's, so I don't want to wait too long.

Oakland University 2nd degree Wait list
Does anybody know how long the wait to get into the Oakland University's 2nd degree? They only require 5 pre-req to apply, but it looks like you never know when you can start. I am wondering if I should take 10 pre-req to try for Wayne or other college (it seems like many require same pre-req except OU), or go with OU. For those who've been accepted to the program, how long did you actually wait? Also, I just found out that they have three campuses. Can you choose which one to go? Macomb and Warren are too far for me to drive.

CLEP and Wayne State (second career)
Thank you guys! I am glad to hear the info. I am a fulltime working mother, so it is difficult to take classes and finish in time. I have no problem re-doing the classes, but I just could not find much classes at the convenient time and location. I can quit my job and go take classes after being admitted to the school, but except Uof M ,all requires pre-requisition prior to admission which I think is very difficult for working people. But anyway, I will attend the info session and try to find out. Thank you again!

CLEP and Wayne State (second career)
I am wondering if anybody knows how Wayne State handles CLEP. I checked their website and it looks like many of the pre-requisitions can be substitute with CLEP, but at the same time website said that all the science courses have to have lab. I am a bit confused. Also, if you don't have a high GPA, is it better to go with taking class for pre-reqs instead of just studying for CLEP? I really want to get into the nursing school's accelerated program as soon as possible, but many requires too many pre-requisitions just to apply, that will take a lot of time. I have already hold BS in Chemistry, so I have already credits for many of the pre-reqs. But the problem is that it's been almost 10 years since I graduated college, so many of the schools won't take my credits from the old days. Any advices are appreciated. Thank you.
