Anyone waiting for Chabot College Fall 2009?
At least we made it to the "final round" right? :-) what is LVC? Have you thought of applying to USF? I'm thinking of applying out-of-state but I don't want to be away from my fiance who currently works for a start-up company here in the bay area. I'm so jealous of your friend who made got in to the program! (Aren't we all?) I bet she's extremely excited and ready for her two-year journey. Btw do you know if this is her first time applying at Ohlone's nursing program? And does she have a bachelor's degree? gpa?

Anyone waiting for Chabot College Fall 2009?
tmoney, I didn't get in. My number in the pdf file is not "bold" or "bold italics". I'm guessing I made it to the "final lottery round". I won't give up. I'm looking forward for Spring 2010 application period. Out of curiosity, did you apply to other schools? If so, mind sharing your list? :-)

Anyone waiting for Chabot College Fall 2009?
Quick update: For some reason, I searched my name on Google this afternoon and guess what I saw? My name on "Fall 2009 Nursing Lottery" pdf file on Ohlone College Nursing website. My heart lept and when I opened the pdf file, I saw my name...and I was not "bold" or "bold italics". You'll figure it out what it means when you download the file. *sigh*

Anyone waiting for Chabot College Fall 2009?
I think community colleges, such as Chabot and Ohlone, are encouraging applicants to take the TEAS exam as early as possible to get exposure and have more time to re-take the exam in case you want to improve your test results. Good luck!

Should I get my CNA while taking nursing prereqs to...
...increase my chances of getting into a nursing school? (ie. ADN, Accelerated BSN, Entry-level MSN) I live in SF and I know its very competitive to get into a nursing school. The competitiveness is the reason that I'm planning to apply to all types of nursing programs from community colleges (for ADN) to major universities (Accelerated BSN & Entry-level MSN). I just want to become an RN, my ultimate goal! I'm thinking maybe if I get a CNA certification, I can work and get hands-on experience in a health-care related field that can help boost my application into nursing schools in addition to my cumulative & nursing prerequisites GPA, volunteering & personal essay. I'm a newbie here in allnurses.com so any encouragement or advice would be greatly appreciated! - your worry-wart pre-nursing student :uhoh21:

ACCELERATED BSN FOR NON-NURSE: VIRTUAL vs. TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM
After reading the above posting, out of curiousity, I researched on the University of Oklahoma's NCLEX Pass Rate for the year 2007 on Oklahoma's Board of Nursing website. Based on the report, the University of Oklahoma's "Internet Campus" (I'm assuming this is their San Diego extension campus), NCLEX 1st time pass rate is 100% with 3 candidates...ONLY 3 CANDIDATES??? thats definitely suspicious! so i just sent out an email of inquiry to U of O & asked the number of students who started their program in 2006. I'll post the #s once I get their response back. :)

ACCELERATED BSN FOR NON-NURSE: VIRTUAL vs. TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM
Hi everyone! I am currently researching at several different Accelerated BSN programs for non-nursing baccalaureate in/outside of California. I ran into the University of Oklahoma's nursing website and they offer VIRTUAL classroom (online) type of program in their San Diego extension campus. Their program consists of 600 hours of online theory course work AND 870 hours of hands-on-clinical work at a local hospital. Furthermore, according to their website, this is not a 'self-study' effort but rather I'll be working with a group of students guided by a faculty member. What is your opinion on this VIRTUAL classroom setting of accelerated BSN program for non-nurse? I am worried that in a year I will not get an adequate nursing education compare to other Accelerated BSN students who attended a TRADITIONAL classroom setting. PLEASE ADVISE! THANKS FOR YOUR TIME IN READING MY POST! :typing
