  1. Well, we are ready for Orientation! See you there!!!
  2. Does anyone knows the "total cost of the program"? At least an approximate cost? Thanks.
  3. Has anyone received additional package in the mail etc.? Is the ESS screening for $50 dollars the last thing we need to do?
  4. Hello everyone! How many of you have already paid for and completed the ESS screening (health records, license, vaccines etc.)? Is there a deadline for this, because I did not see one in the email.
  5. Hello everyone! Please confirm if the "interviews and acceptance letters" discussed in this forum are for January 2017 or August 2016? Just want to make sure. Other friends of mine have told me that they applied like us for FNP Spring (Jan) 2017 and still have not received any letters nor emails of rejection or acceptance. Two other acquaintances advised me that they received Admission Status Letters in the mail, and no emails. The various ways they notify can cause to be uncertain for a while!!!!! Can anyone clarify what is the most common way of notifying applicants? Today, Saturday is day 4 after being told I will be receiving my admission status and nothing in the mail yet! I live in Miami, and it only takes at a max 2 days for mail to arrive locally. Thanks!
  6. Congrats!!!!!!!! On my end, nothing yet! No letter in mail and no email. "Zero" I am going to sent Mrs. Perez an email letting her know that it has been 3 days after she advised of "letters and emails being sent out". Will let you know either way! Again, job well done!
  7. Good luck to you also! Although this forum is for FNP Spring 2017 applicants at UM, we welcome your input. Indeed, the interview questions for FNP are different than those for ACNP and the waiting period is also different. Congrats and we wish you receive an acceptance letter. On another note, the letters that went out three days ago, are set to arrive today or Saturday! Let us know if you receive the letters!!!!!!!
  8. Nothing! Did you do the background info required?
  9. Thanks for info. As a follow up question, if she sends emails for "acceptance", what are the US mail "letter" for? Rejections, Acceptance, or Interviews? The use of various ways of communicating their decision can be difficult to read, if you know what I mean. Let see what happens this week!
  10. Thanks for the reply. I heard that many letters went out yesterday. Has anyone received anything today? Please share the process so that we are all informed. Thanks!
  11. Hello there! Does UM sends out admission status letters by US mail or by email? Has anyone been accepted without interviewing? Thanks for your input.
  12. Hello. About what date did you get that?
  13. Hello everyone! Any updates? Has everyone received the background email?
  14. Has anyone received a packet by mail? Anyone has received an email regarding background and vaccines?
  15. No email about background checks and vaccines.
  16. Hi. Yes, I spoken to 15 Pediatric and Family Practice offices. Most of them are booked with FNP's and the others don't have the time and personnel to precept.
  17. Clinical sites is the most important factor for me. I called over 15 sites and either they are booked and or do not have preceptors available (i.e. don't want to do it, period). This is of concern, since it might trigger being forced to look in other cities and even states for clinical sites. It is a nationwide clinical sites epidemic!
  18. Oh boy! This new requirement by the AACN is nationwide, right?
  19. Sorry I got the names confused when I was responding. Your GPA is very high! If you were told that you could submit the degree and transcripts before the first day of class, then you need to know about the waiting list. Ask them in writing if they have reached the maximum allowed number of students? That could be the only reason why you were placed on a waiting list. I was under the impression that this is the last class for MSN-FNP, since in Jan 2017 they start the DNP program. Has anyone heard this? Please provide input and feedback!
  20. Hello Alisha RN! Thus far based on the responses in this forum, the ones that have been accepted have been notify by email. Have you asked Samford School of Nursing via Email, not by phone, the reason why you were placed on a waiting list? It must be done in writing, since you may need to forward the same through the chain of command of the program for clarification and or help with a possible reconsideration. If you were told by phone to apply to the BSN-DNP, you should have requested in writing the reason why you should apply to the BSN-DNP program. When it comes to making decisions, one must have sound information in writing, this way you can either move forward with another program once you obtain your BSN degree in August (a key requirement) that you must have in order to apply for the MSN-FNP program by the application due date. Therefore, it is my humble opinion that you were likely not accepted since you did not fulfill this key requirement (BSN degree) and if they are going to considered you, extend for you the deadline, and provide you with a spot in the MSN-FNP program, then you should have this in writing. Hope this helps!
  21. Breaking News! Got accepted into the program. Good things come to those who wait, sacrifice, and have faith! Nothing is easy in this lifetime, we must earn it. Congratulations to all that have been accepted. Don't forget why we are here, as we continue to share our experiences and provide great input during this process!
  22. Your opinions and inputs are always appreciated! When I started this forum / trend, I wanted for all of us to share the process in order to help ourselves and others along the way, even long after we are "all accepted into the program". On this note, what have you heard, personally know, and or have an opinion thereof, with regards to the pros and cons of having either no RN experience vs. having years of RN experience when transitioning to FNP. We all know that as FNP's we will be doing "medical diagnosis / differentials" rather than "nursing diagnosis", aside from prescribing meds and learning patho, pharm, and assessment to a higher level. I know of various FNP students that have 0-1 year of RN clinical experience and are assimilating their respective FNP programs very well, earning B+ and A's, and even passing their National Exam on the first tried. I also know of various RN's with over 3-5 years experience that are having difficulties making the transition. What is your take on this?
  23. Got it! Thanks a bunch.
  24. Hello there! When is one suppose to receive SUid to access the FA information? After paying the deposit fee within the 7 days they provide to either accept or decline the offer?
  25. Nothing yet! Has anyone spoken to Financial Aid regarding what loans are available, and how much per year?
