Thanks for the replys. Okay...its not just me than. That offer to me was sorta belittling. I have worked very hard to get where I am as a nurse. I know that I am worth more than that, even in the city of Atlanta. I really like the facility, but I can't work for that low of an amount. I sent the recruiter a response and questioned the offer. So, I wonder what her response is going to be. But I think that I am going to have to get on looking if rate is not increased. As far as location, once I find a job I will want to live close by. Since I was banking on this job I was more looking in the southwest outer regions of Atlanta and even Decatur. Once again, thanks for your inputs. It really gave me a more realistic idea of the rn pay.

Hello, I am an RN relocating to Atlanta. I interviewed with a midtown hospital and actually got a really good vibe. I just recieved a base offer of 24/hr. Yes, coming from Chicago, I went into this already knowing that I would be making a lower wage. However, after doing some research and reading other threads, this rate seems a bit low to me. I have been practicing as a nurse for 5 almost 6 years. During this time I have med/surg, progressive care and administrative experience. In addition, I am Bachelors prepared. I am so ready to move, but I do not want to just accept anything. So, I need some help for all the Atlanta area nurses. Is this the going rate? Am I being unreasonable? Please help. Hello to All, I have been a nurse for over 5 years now. I have med/surg/trauma experience in level one trauma facility. My most recent experience is in the level II area of the hospital which also cares for monitored surgical patients. I am now wanting to move on to another facility and actually I have an interview at a level two facility in the ED department. I am excited about the interview because I want and need this job. I need all the info that I can get to prepare my for the interview. Some questions that I have are how are patients assigned, how long is the typical orientation period for a experience nurse but with no ED experience, what are some things that I can brush up on to better prepare myself for this interview? Hello, I see that you are senior member and I need some senior advice. I have never traveled before. But, I am in the process of doing so. My recruiter has kinda killed my hopes. I wanted to travel out of state. I do have mortgage obligations at home. However, I was under the impression that I could still travel, make enough money to pay all my current bills plus have more to spend. He offered me a job approx. 2 hours away from house in a small town. Which means that I will a stipend of 410 per week for housing, and he said that I will be recieving approximately 815 a week after taxes, and he will include 500 for travel expenses for the entire assignment. So, I would have to say in hotel while I am in the town and travel back forth. I do not know what to think of this. Please help me understand. Thanks.

It is unbelievable that you had to endure something as such. What a lack of professionalism at that instution. Lack of Professionalism is another one of the reasons I am unsure if I should attempt to take LOA or 2WN. This is the only place that I've worked as an RN. So, I need to stay in good standings with them. At this point, I believe that I should submit a 2WN. If I were to reapply to the hospital, I would not apply for the same position that I have now. So, in the travel world, once I accept a position, do you think that they will give me at least 3 weeks to get there? Thanks.

Thanks, I am glad that you enjoyed your travel. What was the exact reason that you gave when submitting your leave of absence? Is it okay to say that you are taking a traveling contract? I guess my problem is that I do not want to offend my manager and/or institution.

Hello, I need some advice. I am planning to travel in the near future. I am currently full-time at an instution where I started my nursing career five years ago. I cannot decide if I am going to put in a two week notice or take a leave of absence. I want to explore other places. At times I feel trapped, not only at this instution but also with life. But, at the same time I feel like my current situation provides a safety net. So, should I put in a two week notice when I get my first travel assignment or should I put in for a LOA? If I put in a LOA, what should I say? I need all the advice I can get. Thanks

Hi, Currently, I am taking the steps become a travel nurse. I have applied to both RNNetwork and Fastaff. When I spoke to the recruiter with Fastaff, it was apparent that their pitch was all about the money. I did not really get a feel for the type of company RNNetwork is. The recruiter was very friendly. Can anyone tell me about their experience with the company and its contracts? Thanks.
