  1. Hi! I have found a non-traditional way to combine a love for skin care and nursing. PM me for details. Tasha
  2. Hi Katnursey- Thanks for your reply. I didn't realize it is so difficult to find consumers. I gues most are going with agencies as opposed to independent providers. Take care.
  3. Hi- I was wondering if there were any nurses who were independent providers thru Ohio homecare and if they were having much success with it. I got my medicaid provider number a few months ago but had a hard time finding clients(consumers). I have recently applied for the HomeChoice program where the case managers send you clients and the visits are intermittent. Would love to chat with anyone currently doing either of these programs. Thanks!:)
  4. Hi, yes it is definitely doable. I just graduated from nursing school last week. I worked a 40 hr/week job the entire time and attended class/clinical at night and on the weekends. I also have two young kids. I would not have been able to do it without the support of my husband that's for sure. The bottom line is that working and school is not easy but if you are focused and determined to be a nurse you can do it. You can do anything you put your mind to. Good Luck!
  5. Anyone have any insight on this hospital-good or bad? I may be interviewing for a new grad postion on their 5000 unit-stepdown/telemetry. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the replies. How is it working for the DMC? Do you like it?
  7. Thanks to all that replied. I will definitely be precepting on 4B at St. v's. I attended a health career fair today at Owens. It's a little frustrating because many of the area hospitals are saying there are not alot of positions right now because census is low. I also talked to U of M and they said they are always hiring. It would be about a 45 min drive each way. [Dragonfly, I saw that you currently work in Michigan. Do you know anything about U of M or DMC hospitals in detroit? By the way it sounds like you had a good experience on 4B~I'm really looking forward to my preceptorship.]Thanks again for everyone's input I really appreciate it.
  8. Just wondering if anyone knew any hospitals that offer this. If so how does it work and is it offered to new grads? Thanks in advance. :nuke:
  9. You guessed it~ Owens. I will be precepting at St. V's. I haven't received my preceptor or assignment yet. I requested the intermediate med-surg floor. I would like to work ICU eventually, but my plan is to get a year or so of med-surg under my belt. How has your experience been so far since you graduated? How early did you put out resumes? I will be attending the Owens health career fair next month. Any input/advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Toledo Hospital, MUO, and St. V's? I will be graduating in December and plan on applying to all three hospitals. I was hoping to get some feedback from nurses who currently work there or have worked there in the past. I have had clinicals at all three facilities but would still like to hear other input. Thanks in advance. :)
  11. Hi Jen- Thanks for the info. No, I really never considered Peds- I think I would be too emotional as I have two young children. I am also looking at 6B and 7B/C(cardio/telem). I'm glad to hear that the new grad programs are good. That's the main thing I am looking for because I want to start with a good foundation. It sounds like you are happy with U of M thus far. Do you think September would be too early to apply if I graduate in December? Thanks again for your help.
  12. Hi, I am student and I will be graduating in December. I live in Toledo but I have heard good things about U of M so I plan on applying there. Do they have a good orientation for new grads? How are the med-surg floors? One particular floor, I believe it is 8C caught my attention because the website said they specialize in derm/plastic surg cases. I have an interest in derm and wound healing. I also noticed that some floors self-schedule and have rotating shifts. Are rotating shifts mandatory and how does that work? Any info anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  13. Hi, I am an industrial engineer and have been working for the automotive industry for 11 years. I start my final semester of nursing school in August and will graduate in December. I have been working full time and go to school at night. It hasn't been an easy road but definitely worth it.
