  1. Just relax and be honest and open. If you dont know an answer always say you will access the resources available to you to obtain the answer. We ask several prioritizing questions about what would you do first in this situation. They are difficult I feel for the new nurse. If you dont know just tell them you would ask a team member. Dont be afraid to say you dont know but do show you realize there will be a team behind you. A brand new nurse with all the answers won't float!!
  2. We became a non smoking hospital awhile ago but they still smoke!! We only have hired security enforcing this and it has proved quite a challange. They smoke almost everywhere but directly in the facility. How do others deal with this?
  3. I don't feel that you are taking into account the difficulty of the CNA position and the number of nurses that this person has to answer to. Does your institution have a Cna/nurse ratio??? How many nurses/patients do your CNAs have to answer to and/attend on an average basis. Is'nt our combined goal excellent patient care? Have you thought about helping your aides and not forget that poop/pee and humans need for water are also nurses concerns? I guess I feel that we should treat them witrh respect and (if you have never been there) try to understand that they have a very hard job and are not there to answer every nurses beckon call. What do your CNAs get PAID???What do your MacDonalds window people get paid? Is there a big difference in your area????
