I was diagnosed with optic neuritis 11 years ago. I got steroids to treat the condition. One of my eyes is still kinda blurry to this day.I have not been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis but my sister was - 2 years ago. Since MS supposedly has familial tendency, I still worry that I may be diagnosed some day.

In my ED I noticed an RN give a 13 month old a friendly peck on the cheek.The mother did not seem to mind but I just wondered if some parents find this kinda behavior inappropriate?

RN2BLPN4NOW, Good luck to with school. My sister goes to Kansas City Kansas Community college. She will graduate next year.

By the way, I love Kansas City!!! I was pleasantly suprised at how friendly the people are. ( Being that it's such a big city)

RN2BLPN4NOW, I got a job at St Joseph Health Center, Carondelet. I am right now on orientation. I can tell I will really enjoy working here. I also got a job at Ku Med. I start Mon Dec 15th. I like the facility and the fact that it's a teaching hospital and the people i have met so far have been great. Thanks to you and others who replied to this thread, my search for a job was made easier.

Last night I was taking report on an anuric pt who was receiving dialysis every other day. There was an order to straight cath qday. The past few days the pt had been straight cathed at 6 am for 0 urine( Dialysis at 8am every other day). When I asked the outgoing RN why straight cath was necessary, she retorted, " to see if there is urine" and looked at me as if I was a clueless child. Isn't Straight cath uneccessary at this point since it has been established that this pt is anuric? Any thoughts? Thankyou.

RNMare, Thanks. I called Providence and I have a Job interview lined up. I also called Research Medical and St Luke's. Faxed my Resume to St Luke's. I have this feeling that I'll be very very happy in Kansas City.Many jobs to choose from.

I am glad this thread came up. I am moving to Kansas City in October of this year. I am looking at Research Medical Center, St Luke's Hospital or Providence Medical center. I want to be a staff nurse (not agency). Anyone know which of these hospitals I should seriously consider, which I should avoid. Although I am in critical care right now, I am hoping to do short stay , cardiac cath lab or maybe even outpatient. Someone please advise.
