Need some advice
Thank you, no I don't live alone and my oldest son is in school and the youngest will hopefully be starting head start in September. Right now he goes to day care. So I'm good on child care. I'm just worried about not having enough time with them:cry:. And yeah the gas prices, right now it's okay. I have drove back and forth when gas was above 3 dollars ( I go to school in this town also) and that was ridiculous, like 400-450 a month on gas.Hope it doesn't get that bad again. But overall I guess I'm leaning more towards taking it.

Need some advice
Okay, so I will graduate in May with my associates degree. I was offered a position on the floor that I am an intern on. I love the job and most of the people seem nice and willing to help. The problem is it's an hour and a half away. I work there now with no problem because I pretty much work what I want so the commute doesn't seem that bad but when I work 12 hrs all I have time to do is go to work and sleep. I have 2 kids by the way. But this is nights so maybe I'll have time to see them in the afternoon before I go to work. I'm so scared that if I don't take it I won't find anything else with the way the economy is. I have applied to 3 other hospitals and the positions that I wanted have all been filled. So would you take it or wait on a job that's closer to home. Thanks in advance for any responses.

What made you quit your job and go into Nursing?
I worked at a hospital for awhile in the supply dept. and I got a small glimpse of what nurses did. After that my goal was to become a nurse, but it was never the right time. I worried about how I would support myself. 3 years later I still hadn't gone back to school but it was heavy on my mind. I worked at a factory at this point and one day I just felt sick (lightheaded and nauseated), so I ask my supervisor if I could take my lunch early. I had no intentions of leaving when I got in the car, but something told me to just drive away and I DID! After I left I felt 100% better. I never went back and I had no idea how me and my SO would pay the bills, but it worked out. It's the best thing I've ever done. I'll be graduating this May!

Nurses spelling troubles
Nope. I'm a nursing student and since I've been in school I have noticed that I can't spell anymore either.I used to be able to spell very well, even won a spelling bee once.

What do you want to tell Nursing Students?
I think this is a problem that should be addressed between schools and nurse managers. It seems like the nurses have expectations of what the students should be doing and the students aren't sure what that is. If both sides had a better understanding of what is acceptable then everyone would benefit. For example at my school we have objectives for each clinical day, if the nursing staff knew what they were, when something pertained to a specific objective they could grab a couple of students to observe or help out.(If possible) And if you could let the clinical instructors know what's going on on the floor, "Hey we're short staffed today do you guys mind giving a couple of baths." I certainly don't mind, I'll take bed baths and soiled linens any day over doing nothing. I also think that alot of times nursing students are afraid of stepping on toes. Basically, communicaions between clinical sites and schools would help out alot.

Will I even Get In?
I went through those same feelings. It seemed like everyone at my cc was a nursing major, 500 applied and only 86 were admitted. I started slacking off on school work thinking I wouldn't get in. Then one day SUPRISE I got my acceptance letter!!! That was the good news, the bad news was I had to kick it into high gear for the rest of the semester. So just stay positive and focused. GOOD LUCK:mad:!!!!

Online Classes taken seriously by other colleges and possible employers?
I have taken several courses online as well as on campus. And on my transcripts there is no way to tell which were taken online, so unless you tell it doesn't make a difference. In my expereience online courses cover the same material as a traditional class but leave room for more flexibility.

Corrections for New Grads?
Hello everybody. I will be graduating next May and every since I decided to go to NS I have wanted to go into corrections. I think that I would get alot of experience, I imagine that Correction nurses have psych pt, medical pt., some that are chronically ill and an elderly population and depending on the facility, labor and deliver ,as well as some emergency situations. I'm just curious if this is the right field to go into straight out of school (if it's even possible). If so would I have a preceptor? I would appreciate any feed back on this. Thanks in advance.
